Hi ricky9212, thank you for the questions! For 3-4 days post procedure sleep upright in a 45 degree angle, you can use either a recliner or stack pillows and place behind your torso. This will help prevent swelling of the scalp and forehead. DO NOT sleep on your face or on your side. Do not wash your hair for 48 hours after surgery. After 48 hours, get in shower but do not stand directly under the shower head because it is too much pressure for the grafts. At 48hrs you may place a dollop of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo in a cup of warm water and gently trickle over your scalp. Then, repeat this with warm water alone to rinse the shampoo. Do not touch the grafts or grafted site with your fingers or hands as to not disturb the grafts. You can wash the donor area (back of head) as usual. You may begin your normal washing and grooming routine after your scabs are healed and gone which is usually 10-14 days after surgery. Please check with your provider if there are any doubts.
Thank you for your question. You should be able to sleep normally. NeoGraft provides a much more comfortable procedure and recovery experience than does the traditional hair transplant surgery, which involves a large incision for graft extraction. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to discuss your recovery instructions.Best wishes,
Most physicians regard 2 weeks as a reasonable benchmark for returning to life as usual. To remove nascent grafts at this point would require the same degree of invasive trauma as was required to place them (i.e. you would need to draw blood).Generally speaking, you can return to normal sleeping and showering habits. I typically recommend patients avoid medicated shampoos or harsh chemical dyes for at least a month.Protocols will vary from physician to physician. Thus, it is always prudent to discuss your concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) with experience in hair restoration.
It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen. In general you can sleep any way you like after two weeks.
For the first few days after surgery I recommend sleeping as upright as possible. This will reduce the swelling. After a few days (3-5 days) the swelling will have subsided and sleeping upright can help but as long as your not sleeping prone (on your face and grafts). Hope that helps!
Hi, and thank you for your question concerning recovery from your NeoGraft procedure. If you are two weeks post-surgery, you should be able to sleep in your normal position, shower as usual and wear a hat if you wish. You will want to be gentle to your scalp as you shampoo and not use a harsh or medicated shampoo, however. If you wear a hat, keep it clean to maintain optimal scalp health. Schedule an in-person follow-up with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon if you have more questions about recovery from your procedure. Good luck, and I wish you good health!
You should be sleeping in the normal position for you at this point. No special dressing or hat required and shower as normal.BestDr. Malouf
At 2 weeks you can sleep in any position without concern. Showering and hair wash also can resume as normal, although I still prefer a non-medicated shampoo for the first month. Hats are fine at this point as well.
After 2 weeks you should be able to resume all of your normal activities, including wearing a hat. Certainly you’d want the hat to be routinely cleaned. As far as sleeping position, you can resume your normal position. When it comes to shampooing, you can shampoo as you did before the surgery. I wouldn’t scrub however. Your scabs should be coming off by now. Remember a small hair will be attached to the scab, but the follicle will remain in the scalp.
I agree with the previous answers to abide by the specific instructions given by your personal hair restoration facility. However, I will be glad to answer your questions based off of our post operative guidelines. 1. We recommend elevated sleeping in a position that limits your ability to toss and turn during the first week after your procedure when swelling and/or displacement of grafts are a risk. There are no sleeping restrictions at two weeks post op. 2. Head wear is initially prohibited due to the potential harm of the newly placed grafts as they heal and become securely fixated in their new home. Pressure, rubbing, pulling, of these new grafts could interfere with their "take" in the initial healing phase. However, once the scabs have fallen off from the sites of implantation, there is no risk of wearing a hat or beanie. 3. Showering instructions are very specific in that initial healing phase prior to the scabs falling off. However, at two weeks post op you are able to shower as normal. I hope these answers were helpful in addressing your concerns.
Hello and thank you for your question. As always, your board-certified facial plastic surgeon should have the final say on when you can safely return to your normal activities, especially if they include high-impact sports like Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. However, for most patients recovering from a h...
Congrats on your procedure. I'm sure you will be very happy with your result. You are bold to go to a wedding a week after a surgery! With regards to your question it would be fine for your stylist to blend in the back and sides. By now the harvest site punctures should be healed up. You are...
The first day after procedure a wrap is placed and this can be removed 24 hours after the procedure. The pressure from this helps the swelling and helps the bleeding slow down. After that I simply ask that a hat resting on the head not be tight enough to cause pulling of the grafts. In...
