It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen. You should be able to return to the gym after 2 weeks.
Thanks for the question. After 4-6 weeks your surgery area will healed and yes you can doing yoga and also do other activities. I wish you all the best.
There is little to no downtime or recovery after the hair restoration procedure. However, strenuous activity should be avoided for about one week.
I tell patients that they can resume all of their activities 2 weeks after the transplant. I use the Smartgraft device so that there are no incisions to heal. If you had the strip method and have a scar on the back of your scalp, you may want to still be careful 2 weeks post op.
If you were my patient, I'd be more than comfortable with you returning to the gym to perform any form of exercise you like. Because different surgeons have different protocols, however, it's always smart to check with your surgeon first.Hope this helps - Sam Jejurikar, MD
Congratulations on your hair transplant and thank you for your question,We instruct all of our patients to avoid vigorous activity after receiving a hair transplant for up to 6 weeks post procedure, depending on the method used; FUE or strip graft. Heavy lifting and straining can cause the scar associated with the strip graft technique to widen and ultimately become and unattractive, noticeable scar. Excessive sweating, over heating and an increase in blood pressure can also have a negative effect on the newly transplanted hairs, with both the FUE and strip graft techniques. I would consult with your physician and see what their post- operative protocol is regarding exercise after surgery.
We advise all patients that all physical exercise can be resumed 4 weeks post surgery. Earlier than this then you can potentially cause problems and after you have invested all this time, effort and money into getting your hair back then there is no point risking it by trying to lift heavy weights in the early stages of healing. 4 weeks after the surgery you can return to the Gym, prior to that then your putting the grafts at risk.
The timing of return to exercise and sport after a hair transplant is something you should check with your hair transplant surgeon as opinion will differ. In general, most doctors will be happy for vigorous exercise to resume after 2 weeks following FUE surgery. My advice to patients who have had Strip FUT surgery is to avoid contact sports and activities that stretch the back of the neck, such as yoga shoulder stands, for 6 weeks. Earlier return to sport is one of the recognised advantages of FUE.
By two weeks you should be able to resume all activities including rigorous exercise, though it's always a good idea to check with your surgeon first.
I use the SmartGraft system. I recommend no vigorous exercise until cleared by your doctor. You can cause issues with excessive sweating and elevation of blood pressure.
At 5 months post op it is too early to see results from the hair transplant procedure. Before and after photos are taken at 1 year.
It is normal to shed transplanted hairs weeks after surgery. The new hairs may take 6 to 12 months to grow.
Greetings,We advise to avoid sexual activity for first week after hair transplantation. The rationale is to avoid increasing blood pressure. There are no studies supporting this however. Best Anil Shah MD
