Masturbation immediately after Hair Transplant?

Question

On the day of my Hair Transplant later in the evening. I masturbated. I did not cause any abrasion or jerk or movement to the Transplanted area so no hair graft was dislodged. Can it have any effect on the final result ? Will my hair grow because I masturbated in the evening of my Hair Transplant ? I know since I did not cause any damage to the transplanted area externally, I should be fine, but I was wondering if internally can it release some enzyme or hormones which would kill hair graft ?

Hi Jooeey and thank you for your question.  I would encourage you to discuss your concerns with your board certified cosmetic/plastic surgeon directly.  As long as you did not cause any trauma to the transplanted hairs, I would assume that your results will be unaffected but I do encourage patients to refrain from any exercise and/or physical activity (including sexual intercourse) for at least 1-2 weeks post-transplant.  I hope this helps and again I recommend that you discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Greetings,We advise to avoid sexual activity for first week after hair transplantation.  The rationale is to avoid increasing blood pressure.  There are no studies supporting this however.

Masturbation has no relevance to hair loss or hair transplant surgery unless your masturbation activity is realted to adversely touching your scalp.  If you are concerned please contact your doctor.

Thank you for the post. Immediately after hair restoration, you would want to refrain from any strenuous activities, such as working out or masturbation for atleast 14 days or so. Hope this helps answer your question.

Neither sex nor masturbation causes balding and masturbating the day of surgery is not a problem. Men's testicles make testosterone and this is metabolized into DHT, a male hormone 40 times as powerful as testosterone. When a person has genes for balding, the hormone DHT works with the gene to cause balding
