After 360 lipo of the abdomen I developed a seroma which turned to scar tissue on my left side. I want to get more lipo for a smaller waist, but I am wondering how will the scar tissue affect the result of futher lipo.
Answer: Secondary Liposuction Thank you for your question. Generally any type of revision procedure is more difficult than the primary procedure. Liposuction create scar tissue regardless of postoperative complications like a seroma. Generally, the skin does not redrape as well after a secondary procedure. It's often necessary to remove the excess skin in order to get the maximum amount of tightening affect. Without examining you it's difficult to say what your particular situation would require. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Answer: Liposuction Irregularities--VASER HI DEF 4D Liposculpture Revision, ThermiRF, fat grafting This needs an in-person evaluation, but you can have a liposuction revision even with the presence of scar tissue from a seroma. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like a VASER liposuction revision. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you a smaller waist and a toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Revisionary Liposuction Operating in scar can present a challenge. Liposuction performed in virgin tissue will typically have greater yields than areas in which procedures have been performed. Post operative scarring can set up a "net" of fibrous scar tissue through which suction will be performed. The more scar the finer the "net." That being said, revision liposuction is commonly performed. Patients should be aware that the results will be less dramatic the second time around. As always, discuss your concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Answer: How will scar tissue from previous lipo affect second round of lipo? Scar tissue from previous liposuction can make the second round more challenging. The presence of scar tissue may alter the tissue planes, making it harder to navigate and achieve uniform results. Additionally, blood supply to the area might be compromised. It’s crucial to consult with a plastic surgeon who can assess your specific situation and provide guidance based on your medical history and current condition.
