Is this a rash from the tape or stretch mark? (photos)

Question

I showered 4 or 5 times since surgery on November 27. I applied some oil on my chest for dryness but it may have irritated my breast? Is this a rash or stretch marks? I'm freaking out. It looks more like a rash to me but my body stretches so bad it may just be stretch marks.

Thanks for your question and the photos. I think you have swelling in the skin that has caused existing stretch marks to become more apparent. You may also have a small tape blister on that one side. Once the swelling resolves both of these issues should improve. Your surgeon would be the best person to help your peace of mind. Best of Luck!

Thank you for the question and photos.  It looks like you have an irritation due to the tape on that one side of your breast.  It's still too early in your post op recovery so give your body time to heal.  If your concern doesn't get better in the next few days, it would be best to visit your surgeon.  Best of luck. It is hard to see from your photos exactly what is concerning you. If you are having a lot of itching and blistering from the tape you might want to be checked sooner to have it removed. Stretch marks can change in appearance because of the swelling, and it is also very common to see pigment irregularities during the healing phase.Good luck!

I am pretty sure that what you are referring to is the area on your right breast which appears to just be irritation from the tape.  You do have some stretch marks on both breasts, but they appear to be old.  So, again, presuming we are referring to the same area, I wouldn't worry.  These marks from adhesives will resolve with time.

I see stretch marks in the photos. But what I think you are referring to on the right side looks like a small blister related to the tape. Since you seem concerned, a visit to your surgeon will offer better reassurance.All the best.
