Answer: I have a lump above my belly button after tummy tuck You should be seen in person for an examination. It is difficult to say via photos alone. If unable to see your surgeon you should be seen by a local surgeon. Regards,

Answer: Lump after tummy tuck Hi. I'm glad you have tried to contact your surgeon, but if it is not practical for you to go back to him, then you will need to be evaluated in person by a local surgeon. This lump could be several things... a hernia, failure to repair the rectus diastasis (separated abdominal muscles), or just your anatomy. But it is difficult to tell by a picture what it is.Good luck!

Answer: Fullness in upper abdomen after tummy tuck Dear dyanav88,It is good that you are in touch with your surgeon. Ask for a copy of your operative report and your pre-op photos so that you can share these with a local surgeon. There are many reasons why you might have the fullness:1) It might just be your anatomy. If you had a lot of fullness here pre-op and a prominent rib cage, this might just be you. We can not safely liposuction this at the time of the tummy tuck and I will often recommend Coolsculpting afterward for an improvement.2) You may have a seroma which is a fluid collection following surgery. This could be diagnosed with an ultrasound and easily aspirated with a needle. It might recur, so you might need to do this several times.3) The sutures used to repair your diastasis might have pulled through. This likely would have been painful, and it sounds like it wasn't.4) It could be a hernia, but I would not put this high on my list right now.See if you can consult with a good plastic surgeon in your area for follow-up and potential tests or treatment if necessary. One of the downsides of medical tourism, but this is not an emergency or the worst thing that we have seen by far.

Answer: Lump above belly button after tummy tuck Thank you for your question. You need to be examined in person by a plastic surgeon. Did this bump just show up or has it been there since surgery? If it has been there since the surgery, then most likely you did not have your rectus muscles repaired above your belly button. If it is new, it still may be lack of repair of the rectus muscles or the repair may have come undone or torn. A hernia is possible but less likely unless you had one there before surgery. It will be hard for any doctor to give you a precise answer without a physical exam. Good luck!
