I'm 10 days post op and had been wearing spanx. However my skin has been irritated and slightly raw. I am wearing a garment with slightly less compression and it feels a lot better. Is that all right or should I go back to the tighter garment.
Answer: Garment after Tummy Tuck and Lipo Dear happymiss, The garment should be tight enough that you feel supported, but not so much that you are uncomfortable. I would probably go with the slightly less compressing one. You could pad the raw areas with something soft, like a clean sock, to keep the garment from rubbing directly on your skin. I would double check with your operating surgeon about the garment, but hopefully you are less uncomfortable this way!

CONTACT NOW Answer: Tummy tuck Thank you for your question regarding your postop tummy tuck garment. If the skin is being irritated you may need to let the skin settle. It is best that the compression garment is tight and your PS may advise giving you some skin care or a dressing to stop the compression garment rubbing. I would check with your PS.

Answer: Tummy tuck question I like my garments to be snug but not uncomfortable and definitely not strangulating. A garment that is too tight can interfere with blood flow and would be worse than no garment at all. It is best to ask your surgeon their opinion.

Answer: How tight for garments? Hello happymiss. I recommend patients wear their garments tightly, however, we make exceptions when irritation of the skin and other issues arise. Your plastic surgeon is a better resource for advice on this since they're familiar with your operation. Best, Dr. ALDO

Answer: Compression garment post op Yes, it is reasonable to loosen them. Compression garments help to re-drape soft tissue after surgery. Especially after liposuction and/or tummy tuck, we recommend at least 4-6 weeks. However, they should be snug, but not so tight they are causing discomfort. That may change as you heal as swelling resolves. The goal is both support and help with improved contour of skin and soft tissues. As we age the snap back that is expected in a 20 year old, for example, does not occur as rapidly as we lose elastin in our skin with age. Compression garments help to allow improved soft tissue re-drape over time.
