Am I being unrealistic with my results?

Question

Hi! I’m 1 year post op from a breast augmentation. I started off super small/deflated due to breastfeeding 3 kids. My doctor recommended 365cc high profile silicone for me and that’s what we went with. As I’ve healed I’ve always noticed my asymmetry and I can’t help but think maybe something could have been done to correct it. At my one year post op my doctor told me it wasn’t a big enough difference to use two different sizes. He has over 25yrs experience so I hate to still be questioning him..

Thanks for your question! The fact is that no two breasts are identical. I’m inclined to agree with your surgeon. Your result looks very nice, and I think chasing perfect symmetry could have left you with uneven cleavage or upper pole fullness. Good luck!

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine is there something wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Now that you have really reached your final results, it does seem that a slightly larger implant on your naturally smaller side would have been a good idea- I find that about 1/3 of patients do need two different sizes.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. You have a reasonable result with the difference in size based on your starting difference.  That said if it bothers you sufficiently you could likely go up in size on the left to better match the right.  Hope this helps.

I appreciate your concerns, however your photo demonstrates reasonable symmetry and a very good result. Most women’s breasts are modestly asymmetrical and it can be difficult to attain perfect symmetry with different sized breast implants. I recommend to do nothing at this time and continue to observe your results and reevaluate your situation in 6 to 12 months. Best of luck.

Your after photo is not good and does not show your breasts. Plus, your hand is in the way. Please go back to your surgeon and discuss your concerns. I suspect, you were not even prior to surgery.

All women have breast asymmetry to some degree.  The difference in the volume of your breasts is minimal and it appears you have a very nice result.  If it is particularly bothersome you could consider using differently sized implants, but from the photos the volume discrepancy does not appear obvious.

Hello! Thank you for your question. Your breast augmentation provided an excellent result! Every woman has some sort of asymmetry, hence why we call them sisters and not twins. Your asymmetry is very minimal, I would have recommended the same thing. When you use different implant sizes the shape can become different thus still resulting in asymmetry. Overall you have a great result! Hope this helps!
