Doctor said skin was too thick to get the results I wanted. Does that sound probable? (Photos)

It is possible to make it much smaller than it is now . However, as your surgeon mentioned that it takes longer for patients with thick skin to heal . Also, it’s not possible to expect unrealistic results such as a small nose when you have thick skin. With that said, I believe good outcome will happen after your rhinoplasty procedure. As far as I can see from your photos your skin structure seems quite thick, but this is not an obstacle for rhinoplasty, the healing time may take longer than normal and thin skin. Even if the nose shape you want is not suitable for your skin structure, it is possible to get a more natural nose that is compatible with your face. I recommend you rhinoplasty surgery.

That said, if you are looking to achieve tip lifting, and hump removal on profile, this may be considered depending on your examination. Thank you for your question. You should be able to have an excellent result with rhinoplasty. I would also plan for laser resurfacing of your nose 3 to 4 months after rhinoplasty to get rid of the thicker nasal tip skin. There is no reason that you should be able to have a rhinoplasty and have an excellent result. Best wishes to you.

Your skin appears to be quite thick. However, you would benefit from a rhinoplasty to create a more normal angle to the nose as well as refine the tip and take down the dorsal hump. If the skin thickness bothers you then it can be dermabraided to make it thinner.
