Hi! I am wondering what a professional may say about my nose. I see a difference in shape and size of my nose on each side of my face. The right side appears a different shape and larger than compared to the left. I like my nose from the left side. Straight on I feel that it looks fine and don’t notice much of an issue. I do not notice the issue with the right side when looking in the mirror or taking forward camera pictures. It is only with some back camera photos at different angles.
Answer: Rhinoplasty Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs. Subtle deviations of the nose affect all of us to some degree, and these combine with facial asymmetries to create slightly different appearances of the nose from various angles. In your case, from the semi-profile view, you may notice that the supratip and nasal tip are slightly offset. This contributes to greater visibility of the nasal ridge bump on one oblique view compared to the other. Additionally, the width of the nasal tip accentuates this contrast. If you are contemplating a rhinoplasty intervention, the procedure would likely benefit from a reduction in the projection of the nasal bridge. This could be combined with a slight reduction in the nasal tip width and potentially its projection to create a more balanced and harmonious appearance. It is important to note, however, that selfie photographs often introduce substantial distortions due to lens and angle effects, which can misrepresent the actual proportions and shape of the nose. An in-person consultation with accurate photographs and computer simulations can provide a clearer understanding of the nasal characteristics and the potential impact of rhinoplasty. To gain a better understanding of facial and nasal asymmetries, taking photographs from below, with your face well-centred, can help. This perspective allows you to observe the relationship between the nasal tip, ridge, and forehead, offering more insight into the effects of these asymmetries.

Answer: Rhinoplasty surgery should be reserved for those with severe dissatisfaction with their noses. Based on your photos, you appear to have a pleasing and non-distracting nasal appearance. Additionally, it's difficult to see significant differences between your right side and left side. That regard, unless if you have serious dissatisfaction with the appearance of your nose, please consider avoiding rhinoplasty surgery. Insofar as your nasal breathing is concerned, you could get that evaluated by a reputable otolaryngologist. Thank you for this question, and I hope it helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty and septoplasty You may benefit from a rhinoplasty and septoplasty as you have a deviated septum. The rhinoplasty will take care of the super tip hollow and correct mild asymmetry of the tip. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
