Hi, I am starting my journey and setting up consultations, but would like any additional opinions I can get to ensure that I’m as knowledgeable as I can be (and that I don’t get strong armed into an additional procedure if it can be avoided) I’m wondering if a lift is 100% necessary or if I could possibly get away with a sun muscular pocket with dual plane 3 (with a slightly larger, high profile implant) I’m wanting a more natural look as my end result & prefer minimal scarring. Thanks!

Answer: Breast Lift Dear Lilithlvne, determining whether you need simply a breast augmentation versus a breast lift can be somewhat complicated. It depends on a number of factors including skin laxity and current nipple position. Generally speaking, if the nipples are lower than the inframammary line the patient will most likely need a breast lift. If the nipples are at or above the inframammary line we can generally get by with just a breast augmentation depending on the size of the implant the patient wants. I often still using implant when I perform a breast lift because it provides more upper breast fullness after the lift. To be sure a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help determine what the patient actually needs. Answer: Do I need a lift? The submitted photo is not enough to make a definite recommendation. Typically if the nipple is at or below the level of the breast fold a lift is recommended. It is understandable to not wish to have unnecessary scars, but nor do you want to undergo a procedure and be unhappy with the result. Be sure the consultations you have are with experienced board certified plastic surgeons.
