Is it safe to go home right after Breast Augmentation surgery ?

Is it safe to going Home Right After Breast Augmentation surgery ? Or it's better stay overnight in the hotel room? 4 hours driving distance from medical facility to my home . ( my husband will drive me back to home)

I would recommend staying close to the office for at least the first 24 hours after surgery.  You should be seen for the follow up the day after surgery.  Even if you are not, it is best to remain close just in case for the first 24 hours after surgery. Thank you for your excellent question.  In most cases, patients return home the day of surgery, and have little issue in the way of complications developing.  I recommend patients use their discretion as to what would give them the best piece of mind.  If you would be more relaxed and less anxious by staying overnight nearby your physician's office, I think that it is a wise move.  Best of luck on your surgery!

A breast augmentation is an out patient procedure so yes, it is safe to go home right after.  You would need a ride from surgery, someone to be with you at home over night to help you and watch over you, and a ride back to your surgeon's for your post-op appointment.  Being that you live 4 hours away and that your post-op appt is typically the next day, some patients choose to stay overnight somewhere closer so it's easier and then do the drive home.  ac

Hi Afina_ZhvaniyaBreast augmentation is a very safe operation but it is not without risk.  Since you live so far away from your doctor and the hospital, I think it would be prudent to stay at least overnight.  Perhaps you could visit with your doctor the next day before the long trip to just be sure that all is good.On another note, you likely won't feel up to such a long trip after surgery, especially if implant is placed submuscularly.Best of luck to you.Se

Most breast augmentation patients do well going home after augmentation. However you live four hours away. Thus in your case it will be prudent to stay in town and get checked by your doctor before you go back home.

Thank you for your question.Typically breast augmentation surgery is safely performed as an outpatient procedure. Every surgeon has different follow up schedules and post-operative routines.   I like to see my breast augmentation patients back the next day.  If they are traveling more than an hour away, I see them first thing in the morning to change the dressing and ensure that everything looks appropriate before they make the trek home. Typically in most practices going home immediately post op is acceptable. If a pt of mine is further than 2 hours away and is ok with idea of staying in town overnight and being seen in office the next morning I am happy with that. It is more about the 4 hour car ride post op that you may not feel comfortable with. Ask your surgeon their preference.

Following Breast Augmentation surgery you are wrapped in an Ace Bandage to keep the implants from riding up. The next morning you are brought back into the office and placed into a sports bra. From there you would be seen one week post-op to have sutures removed. I would verify with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to see when they would like to see you back after surgery. It would make the most sense to stay one night in the hotel before your 4 hour journey back home.

I recommend that my patients stay in a hotel close by, and be checked the following day. If everything is good, then limited travel should be fine. I would suggest taking a pain pill prior to travelling for you will notice every bump in the road.
