Is Manuka Honey actually helpful?! (photos)

Question

6 weeks post op now . At 4 weeks post op. Boob opened up. Dr said wet to dry dressing..after 2 weeks of that it got much worse. I heard about Manuka Honey and gave it a shot. 2 nights with no improvement. .does it need more time or not work at all????

Thank you for your question and photos. I am sorry to hear of your complication. I would suggest continuing with wet to dry dressings as your surgeon suggested as well as a healthy diet. I have never heard of applying honey to open wounds, so I would not encourage you to use it. Please have close follow up with your board certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps.

Although Honey has been suggested to be helpful, I would not try any experimental stuff for your healing; please follow up with your surgeon to get a more effective and tested product. I like Dakin's 0.25% wet to dry dressings for your wound.

A lot of the things recommended have really no clinical basis as to improvement. However, I would recommend ScaRxtape after it heals for a period of at least two months.
