I am planning on getting a lip lift but I’m not sure how much should be removed? I was thinking 7mm but the doctor said could go up to 10mm? My Phil trim is about 20-21mm and I’m 45 years old.

Answer: Lip Lift Hello, hope you are well. The amount excised can range from around 4-10mm, but most lip lifts I perform are on the lower end of the spectrum (4-7mm). The decision is based on what you and your surgeon consider an aesthetically pleasing result, how much dentition you want to show, and your surgeon's experience/guidance. A 10mm excision may appear more 'obvious'--it will result in a lot of dental show, and the skin redraping can be a challenge. Best,Dr. Tower

Answer: Lip Lift Skin removal Every patient will have different lip needs based on her individual anatomy and aesthetic goals. This said, in general 10-11mm length of cutaneous lip left after a lip lift is usually towards the shorter range for most surgeons. A lot of my patients range in the 11-15mm distance after lip lift surgery, and I think age, genetics, and previous lip filler history contribute to both lip lift design planning and outcomes. Work together with your surgeon to create a plan that is satisfactory to both of you, and best of luck in your treatment journey!
