Should I get dissolvable stitches with my lip lift?

I am an older woman and have my lip lift scheduled for 6/26. Because of 4 of July, the office is taking a holiday and won’t be able to take out my stitches until 7/5. That will make it 10 days before stitches are out. The doctor has offered to do dissolvable stitches but I’m not sure I want those. What should I do?

It appears that your upper lip is longer and that procedure like lip lift should be considered. However, that can be decided only on the basis of in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.

Only suggestion I can offer without in person evaluation or set of good photosis is to seek in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in lip lift and nose surgery. Hope this helps.

Only on the basis of in person evaluation one could decide whether lip lift would be right procedure to improve your smile and dental show. In cases like yours, resection of the upper portion of orbicularis muscle and minimal remova of the skin would be an option. In person or telemedicine...

I wrote the paper showing that lip lifts and rhinoplasty can be done at the same time and have done these together for years. However, if you want this doctor to do the revision, then just wait 6 months and that should be fine as long as the doctor is experienced with lip lifts as well.

It appears your philtrum is long enough for a lip lift. A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
