Should I get dissolvable stitches with my lip lift?

I am an older woman and have my lip lift scheduled for 6/26. Because of 4 of July, the office is taking a holiday and won’t be able to take out my stitches until 7/5. That will make it 10 days before stitches are out. The doctor has offered to do dissolvable stitches but I’m not sure I want those. What should I do?

Dissolvable stitches are not a substitute for taking sutures out at the right time. Will waiting a few extra days make a difference? Well it can make a difference. A responsible office would not force you to practice surgery on yourself by putting you in the situation of "choosing" which type of sutures you want. The next step is blaming you for any adverse outcome for that choice. Do you really want to work with a surgeon who puts you in this situation. I don't think it is ethical to put you in this situation. A responsible surgeon would not offer surgery on a date and make themselves unavailable for follow up.
