Consultations for Facial Surgery?

Wearing makeup will not hinder a good plastic surgeon from seeing what needs to be done during your facelift. We are looking past the skin (and makeup) and analyzing the deeper structures of the face. I do not know of any experienced plastic surgeon who requires that you take off all your makeup for your facelift consultation.

I am unclear about your question. Patients may wear makeup to their consultation as they are coming from work or for whatever they were doing before their appointment. However, prior to their evaluation or whatever treatment they are having, we have they wash off their makeup so we can better evaluate they skin if that is the area we are evaluating. Good Luck.

For your consultation there is no reason you have to take off your makeup. Your plastic surgeon will still be able to evaluate you as he/she is evaluating the soft tissue and bony structures of your face.

It is important takeoff makeup if you're coming in for dermatologic consultation regarding the imperfections in the skin itself. When performing a consultation for a rhinoplasty, face lift, or eyelid surgery, a facial plastic surgeon is looking at structural components underneath the skin, so makeup is appropriate
