Constant congestion 1 year post op rhinoplasty. Will a revision be needed to fix this?

I am over a year post op. I am still constantly congested. Sometimes it clears up for a few seconds, and then I get congested again. I am now a mouth breather because of this. Will a revision be needed to fix this? If so, what exactly would need to be done?

The key is what is causing the obstruction.  Have you tried a nasal spray like afrin or flonase?  Does either one fix your breathing to your satisfaction?  If so, staying on flonase or other medical management will help (afrin is for short term use only).  If the sprays don't help you likely have obstruction following the rhinoplasty and we can fix that by paying attention to the areas of nasal obstruction. This is where a facial plastic surgeon really shines.

There are multiple anatomic causes which can cause nasal obstruction, such as a deviated nasal septum, valve collapse, or turbinate hypertrophy, and allergies. Best to try medical management, first with nasal sprays, antihistamines and decongestants. You will also required in person consultation to look on the inside of an of your nose to find out what is the causing the nasal obstruction itself..
