Do you do liposuction for what I have determined is "Buffalo Hump".

Question

It is an ugly hump on the back of my neck. If so, how expensive is this procedure? I have read that it can be done just under local anesthesia and not very expensive. Thank you.

For best results improving a buffalo hump, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. Thanks for the question.Yes, liposuction can be done on a "buffalo hump." One thing to consider is that the hump can have very tough (fibrous) tissue mixed in with the fat. Some plastic surgeons have more luck improving this area if their liposuction equipment has some sort of way to melt the fat through the tough tissue. For example, the Vaser or smart liposuction, use a form of energy to melt the fat through the tough tissue. Look for a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has experience in this area and you probably will get a good result.Good Luck!

This can absolutely be improved with liposuction. It can also be safely done with just local anesthesia and a mild sedative to make the procedure more affordable. This is a very common problem that affects primarily women but sometimes men as well. The medical name is a "dorsocervical fat pad", but is commonly called a "buffalo hump". The appearance is very similar to a condition called a "Dowager's Hump" aka kyphosis, that is actually caused by a curvature of the spine and should be differentiated from the condition caused by excess fat.
This excess fat can easily be liposuctioned under minimal sedation and local anesthesia. Recovery is fairly straightforward results should be permanent.
