Is it possible swelling is gone at 17 days post lipo? (Photos)

Thank you for your question. You will likely notice SOME improvement after 1-2 weeks, but your full result after liposuction will not be evident for 3-6 months as swelling resolves. In terms of weight loss, you will not see much if any after liposuction. Liposuction is a shape change operation, not a weight change operation. When fat cells are removed from one part of the body with liposuction, the body still needs to store that fat somewhere, so it is redistributed round the rest of your body. This is usually a very even process so the fear of suddenly having disproportionate weight gain in a different part of the body is not something to really worry about. I've actually never had a patient experience this phenomenon.

You look very good for being only 17 days out from surgery.   Everyone is different, and you are certainly seem to be doing well and will have a good result.     Your are definitely still swollen though, so you should see gradual improvement over the next few months.      If you are good about your diet, you should weight will reflect the fat removed when the swelling is gone.

Swelling and healing as well as scar maturation can persist for 6 months and sometimes up to 1 year following liposuction.  Liposuction will not help with weight loss in any significant way.

Ronda.  You are on your way! It takes at least 4 to 6 months after liposuction for complete recovery, including resolution of all swelling after surgery. Your photos demonstrate an excellent and dramatic early result, which should get better with time as all swelling resolves. You cannot measure your results with loss of weight after Liposuction, rather Improvement in contour and decrease in waistline and trunk measurements. Try to stay patient and follow up with your plastic surgeon. Good luck. 

Dear Ronda9220,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a liposuction surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
You are still early on the healing process, it can take up to six months to see your final results, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, inflammation is normal.
I suggest my patients to try the lymphatic massages and to use a full body compression garment, 24/7 for the first 3 months, and after that, for 12 hours a day for 3 more months, to get the best results.
It is important for the compression garment to be very tight, for it to help with the swelling, after surgery. Please, follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

Congratulations on your liposuction—so far, your results look great. As you’ve mentioned, you’re already seeing a noticeable improvement in your body shape and the way your clothes fit. At 17 days after lipo, you’re likely still experiencing some swelling, even if you don’t feel quite as swollen as you might have earlier on.


As for the number on the scale, don’t be surprised if it doesn’t change drastically at all. Liposuction isn’t a weight loss tool, so you won’t drop a huge number of pounds. But you will look and feel leaner and slimmer, especially as your results continue to develop.
