I heard that retainer do help prevent collapsing... my surgeon said that very few procedures were done

After 25 years of performing rhinoplasty surgery, we do not recommend or utilize any sort of nasal retainer to prevent nasal collapse. Generally speaking, nasal collapse is prevented by reconstructing nasal valves during rhinoplasty surgery, or supporting them properly with sutures. I hope this answers your question.
