What can be done to just help me look better in clothes? Missing gluteus medius and scar from emergency hip revision (Photo)

Question

I have a hip replacement, revised 3x. The scar is attached to my pelvic bone. My hip replacements dislocated so many times that my gluteus medius was torn out completely, and when I sit, the ball of my hip prosthesis sits directly on a thin layer of scar tissue. Aside from never looking good in clothing, it is extremely painful! Does anyone have advice as to what I can do to improve my body and QOL? I understand that perfection isn't realistic.

Thank you for your question. i have delt with similar deformities in the past. I recommend buttock augmentation with an implant as well as scar tissue release with fat transplantation. You may require a second fat transplantation on the right side 6-8 months after the initial surgery. Best wishes to you.

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. A fat grafting procedure will help you to look better in clothing by filling the irregular contour of your hip to match the other side. There will be lots of scar tissue in the are so you may require more than one session.

A flap of tissue could be raised and transferred to give more tissue and coverage of a tender are. This would not be considered cosmetic surgery and would be done by a plastic surgeon.

I think that definition applies to your situation.
Don’t look for the standard cosmetic surgical procedures like a BBL. Instead you need proper reconstructive surgery and this should first and foremost because of her by medical insurance and secondly done by plastic surgeons do these type of procedures and I have the necessary skills and experience to deliver quality outcomes.
Consider having consultations at local academic medical centers such as medical school university hospitals. You can also check major medical centers in your area that perform large numbers of elective reconstructive procedures. Take a look at where most of The breast cancer reconstruction is done for example and contact plastic surgeons involved with those type of procedures.
Most plastic surgeons fall into one of three categories. Those who do exclusively cosmetic surgery, those who do both insurance-based work and cosmetic surgery and lastly those are mostly due insurance based reconstructive procedures.
It’s the third type you’re looking for and they are often involved with large medical groups or academic facilities but can be individual plastic surgeons in private practice as well.
Treatment options for this could include a large rotational flap or restoring the tissue with free tissue transfer.
These are not simple outpatient procedures but are probably more appropriate for long-term solutions.
It’s important to be in the right hands and find the right surgeon to do the job correctly. For that reason I suggest you and all patients seeking surgical intervention have multiple consultations before choosing your provider.
