Masseter muscle injections could set you up for temporary dry mouth. If your objection was I the upper face, then it's unlikely to be Botox. Dry mouth can be caused by several other conditions and you should discuss your concerned with your injector.Best wishes, Dr. Aldo
Botox is unlikely the cause of your dry mouth. If you had botox injected into your masseter muscle than it is possible to have dry mouth as a side effect, that is temporary.
Thank you for your question.Where did you have the Botox injected? If it was injected in the Maseter it may cause some dry mouth but that would resolve after a week or so. If it was injected in the upper facial areas, I would find it very unlikely that the two are related.
I'm not sure where you had your injection. Botox injections to the masseter could cause dry mouth, but it would resolve in a week or two, but this would be extremely rare. If Botox was injected somewhere else, it's unlikely it is due to your injection. If it persists, I recommend getting a formal evaluation with your Doctor to determine cause.
Thank you for your question. You do not mention where you received your injections. If you had Botox injected into the masseter muscle then it can cause dry mouth. However, this would resolve in 1-2 weeks. If you had Botox injected anywhere else it is very unlikely to cause dry mouth. If this continues I recommend having this evaluated by your doctor to determine the cause. Best of Luck!
Which areas did you have injected? It is my opinion that botox in the regular 3 areas will not cause dry mouth. I have done over 10,000 treatments and nobody has ever reported this. If it is a listed side effect you could be one of those unlucky rare cases, as botox is temporary any such side effects should be temporary if caused by botox and not coincidental.
Thank you for yourquestion las2008. I am sorry to hear about your situation. Botox is apurified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. It is difficult to make an assessment without knowing where the Botox was placed and when the dry mouth started relative to the treatment. When Botox is placed in certain areas (most commonly in the lower face to address the masseter muscle) dry mouth is possible, but temporary. Please consultwith a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
Botox (like Xeomin and Dysport) is a medication injected into target muscles of the face to selectively relax them for fewer/softer wrinkles. When this medication is injected into the salivary glands, it relaxes your ability to produce saliva/spit. Less saliva makes for a drier mouth. This effect is used in patients with too much saliva. It is also temporary. I would recommend taking a break from your Botox injection to see if there is a difference. There are also many other medications that can potentially cause a dry mouth.
It is possible to develop dry mouth from injections into the masseter but it is temporary and should not last more that a week or two and disappear on its own. Injections elsewhere should have no effect
