I am just over 1-year post op from my first Rhinoplasty and am very happy, and I did understand that I had some nostril asymmetry prior to surgery. Still, I did not expect it to be this significant from head-on after surgery. My surgeon says we can do a minor adjustment to improve the symmetry slightly, and I'm trying to weigh the risks of going under the knife again, no matter how "minor" it is. Is there a risk of it being worse? Would love another opinion.
Answer: Revision Rhinoplasty Hello, hope you are well. Thank you for submitting your photos and questions. It looks like you posted 2 postop and 2 preop photos. The most noticeable aspect of the asymmetry in the postop photo is the difference in the height of the alar rim on the A-P "head-on" view. There are low risks methods to improve this without needing to fully re-open the nose and introducing a significant possibility of worsening things. I think it very reasonable to explore those options with your surgeon. Best,Dr. Tower.

Answer: Is a minor revision worth it? Thanks anniestudyhall for your question . Even if the surgery is only a simple correction, it is quite normal to be anxious about having another operation. Although there are hazards associated with every surgical operation, it's crucial to balance those risks against any potential advantages. Here are some things to think about: -The expertise of the surgeon: Trust is essential. Make sure you have total faith in the expertise and experience of your surgeon. -Open Communication: Talk to your surgeon honestly about any worries you may have. A skilled surgeon will answer all of your questions and will be kind and patient. -Evaluate some of before and after rhinoplasty photos done by your surgeon. -The Extent of the Revision: A minor revision typically involves smaller adjustments and is less invasive. -Realistic Expectations: Understand the limitations of the revision and what can realistically be achieved. Possible Hazards are: -Scarring: Although scarring can occur after any surgery, it's usually minimal, particularly after a small revision. -Infection: Although there is little chance of infection, it is crucial to carefully follow post-operative care guidelines. B-reathing Problems: Rarely, a revision may cause breathing problems. A competent surgeon will, however, reduce this danger. Ultimately, the decision to undergo a revision is a personal one. If the potential benefits of a more symmetrical nose outweigh the risks, and you're confident in your surgeon's abilities, it may be worth considering. Hope this was helpful! Answer: You are very happy with your nasal appearance, it may not be worth undergoing a revision rhinoplasty. The base view of your nose is the least important view. On front view, you're right nostril margin appears a drop higher than your left. Rather than undergoing revision surgery, Microdroplet Silikon-1000 injections maybe considered to lower your right nostril margin for improved symmetry on front view. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Revision is not necessary if you're okay with current result. If you are okay with the result, then no need to do a surgery again. If you really want to improve some asymmetry, slight columellar deviation can be improved by revisional surgery, whose risk can be nearly zero. Columellar deviation is one the main reasons of nostril asymmetry from basal view.
