I had Botox yesterday, noticed that my eyelid feels funny. I'm afraid the Botox hasn't fully kicked in, will my eyelid to droop?

The effects of the Botox take up to two weeks to fully develop.  If there are areas which have been dropped, they will resolve over time.  After 2 weeks return for follow-up evaluation with the doctor that did the injections.

It is difficult to tell only 24 hours out from your Botox treatment to see if you will have an eyelid droop -- it typically takes 7-10 days for Botox to take full effect.   I would return to your injector at that point for a reassessment.In the future, be sure to seek the services of an experienced physician injector. I think the key with Botox lies in truly understanding the anatomy of the injected area, and more importantly the variability in the anatomy between patients -- for brows, the forehead, and anywhere else you plan on receiving a Botox injection. This includes having a firm understanding of the origin, insertion, and action of each muscle that will be injected, the thickness of each muscle targeted, and the patient variability therein. As an aesthetic-trained plastic surgeon, I am intrinsically biased since I operate in the area for browlifts and facelifts, and have a unique perspective to the muscle anatomy since I commonly dissect under the skin and see the actual muscles themselves. For me, this helps guide where to inject and where not to. However, with that said, I know many Dermatologists who know the anatomy well despite not operating in that area, and get great results.Good luck.

There is nothing you can do at this time, my suggestion is to wait the 2 weeks and reassess the area.  Some people feel wierd immediatly after injections.  Best, Dr. Emer.

You may have some swelling from the injection.  There is nothing to do at this time except wait for it to work.  If you get a droopy eyelid, you should ask your doctor for drops that may help.  Most likely you will be ok, and next time dont get botox late so that you can stay up for at least 5 hours.

Thank you for your question. After the injection unfortunately there is not much that can be done. Wait the 2 weeks for Botox to take the full effect and assess then. If your eyelid is heavy, the only thing that can be done is to wait until the product wears off. 

Sorry for your concerning situation. I would allow the botox to fully activate over the next 7 to 10 days, and then assess with your injector. In our area, we do frequently who went elsewhere for botox that led to a droopy eye when performed by an untrained or unskilled injector. Ensure that you use only an experienced and expert physician injector.

Sorry to hear about your concerns. You sound like someone who has had good results for 10 years. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict what will happen in 7-10 days.  I suggest being in close contact with your injector and letting him/her know exactly what is going on. It may turn out to be nothing, or it could be a droopy eyelid, but one can't tell right now.  Hang in there.Below is general information link on Botox. 

Hello, I realize that you have been doing Botox for a number of years but it can still be a little unpredictable in it"s effect. It does usually take 48 hours or so to begin to work so the strange feeling that you are having may not be related to the botox. If, however you would proceed to have a droopy eyelid and not a droopy brow there is an eyedrop which will help to improve the droop in the lid until the botox wears off. If need be I'm sure your surgeonwill provide the proper medication.

You may have swelling from the injection or even  bruise. At this point as you know it will take about 5-7 days for the Botox to work. If concerned touch base with your doctor.
