Answer: Why does the Dominican Rep require certain BMI and the States don't? Different surgeons will have different opinions and comfort levels with regard to this so it is best to ask the individual surgeon at your virtual or in-office consultation. The two main reasons for targeting a BMI close to 30 is to lower the risks of complications during and after surgery and the raise the probability of attaining your ultimate goals in one surgery. Remember that BMI is but one measure of fitness for surgery.

Answer: Why does the Dominican Rep require certain BMI and the States don't? Thanks for your question. Patients considering cosmetic surgery should have a BMI of 30 or less. High BMI poses high surgical risk and reduces the likelihood you will receive optimal cosmetic results. We never want to do anything that might jeopardize our patient's health. If you have been unable to reach your goal weight with diet and exercise we recommend you schedule a consultation with a Board Certified Bariatric Surgeon.
