I sat down non stop after BBL. Is this a problem? (Photo)

Question

My surgeon performed liposuction on my waist & flanks, a BBL+ breast aug on me 5 days ago. I was advised it was ok to sit down on my buttocks, however I should try to minimize it but was given no special cushion or after care considering I can’t lay on my stomach either, I’ve been struggling to find a way to sleep properly but no luck so far. I was also told that lifting my buttocks is not possible when I thought that was the whole point of a BBL?

You should wait at least 2 weeks before sitting without a support cushion and sleeping on your back. Sitting with no support too soon can harm the newly moved fat cells.

I recommend that my patients minimize sitting, even with a pillow, for the first two weeks.  If they must sit, every 30 minutes or an hour, they should get up and stand for a few seconds to take the pressure off.   This reduces the chance for fat necrosis. I usually recommend about 6 weeks before sitting without a pillow. After 6 weeks the fat has revascularized, and they will have a very good idea of their final results.  
The Brazilian buttlift results that are obtained after 3 months are permanent if the body weight and body fat percentage are held stable.  This is dependent upon the amount of fat transferred, the way in which the procedure is performed, and the way the patient is managed in the postoperative period.

Thank you for your question along with your photo. Every surgeon has their own protocol as far as post-op recovery goes. I allow my patients to sit and sleep how they want from day 1. Dear jsjsjsjksjsjs,I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. They can sleep on their stomachs or sides. Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area.Daniel Barrett, MD

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
I recommend my patients not to sit for more than 30 mins. every two hours, for the first 2 weeks, to have optimal results. If you have any concerns, I suggest you to follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

Thank you for your question an photo. I would not recommend my clients to sit a lot on the buttocks in the first weeks after surgery. Best is if you sit down to use a boppy pillow or try to lay down on the stomach a bit with cushions under your breasts and the back lifted . Best of luck

Greetings. In general, I ask patients not to directly sit on their buttocks for 3 weeks postop. This will vary between surgeons. I ask patients to use a special cushion to avoid direct contact between a surface and the buttocks. Consider asking your surgeon for additional recommendations. Best wishes.

Great Question.I do not recommend sitting directly on your buttocks for the first two weeks after surgery. It is advised in our practice that you sleep on your stomach, and put pressure on the backs of your thighs when sitting down. The purpose is to avoid killing any of the new fat cells that have been transferred.Every doctor has their own methods of recovery, but this is our best practice and recommendation.Best Wishes!

I do not recommend sitting for the first two weeks after surgery to avoid pressure on the buttocks. A special BBL pillow is provided afterwards for sitting for short durations. Express your concerns to your surgeon during the follow up appointments. You may need to sleep on your sides since you had BBL and breast aug at the same time, but you need to consult your surgeon for post op care.
