I have a very square hairline along with a large forehead. I have heard that a forehead reduction can lower the hairline but that hair transplants would be needed as well to round the hairline out. Is it possible to round out the hairline with just a forehead reduction (by taking the forehead down/in more on the sides)?

Answer: Forehead reduction In the forehead reduction/hairline advancement surgery, the incision is designed such that some rounding of the hairline is achieved. However, in most cases, if a significant narrowing of the width of the forehead- i.e. a much more rounded look is desired, hair grafting as soon as 3 months later is to be performed.

Answer: Shaping a forehaed and hairline Depending of the type and degree of forehead and hairline reduction, different techniques may be employed. Reduction of the forehead bone has limitations (without major osteotomies) but in combination with a hairline manipulation it can create significant improvement. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this type of surgery is recommended. Good luck.
