Mommy makeover in the near future. My concern is my saggy breast. I am still undecided about implants as I worry about having foreign objects in my body and how my body will react. Is there any type of testing I can take to see how my body will react with implants prior to making a decision. Do you think a lift alone I will still get desirable results? I'm okay with having small breast. I've looked into fat transfers, but worry the fat will not survive. I also plan to have a bbl.

Answer: Will a breast lift alone give me desirable results? Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photos, you appear to be a good candidate for a full mastopexy (breast lift) which will put your nipples into the correct position, decrease the size of nipple/areola and allow excess skin to be taken away, giving you a more youthful looking breast. Some people are a little apprehensive to the full breast lift due to the scars, but typically they do very well. You may be happy with just a lift and no implants, but if you get the lift done first, then you haven't burned any bridges to move forward with the implants at another time. I would encourage you to seek a consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to further discuss your options, specific techniques, concerns and expectations. I hope this helps.Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzBreast Fellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Depends on your goals... You may be able to get a great result with a mastopexy (breast lift) alone. A lift for you will likely only remove a very small amount of overall volume, so if you're okay with your current size, this may be what you need. The good news is you can stage many plastic surgery procedures. If you end up desiring more volume after the lift, you can have implants or fat transfer done as a second stage. Both of these have their benefits and risks. Overall both are good, safe options for increasing breast volume. If you already are planning on having a BBL, you may be able to use some of that harvested fat for transfer to the breasts at the same time. Fat survival should be about the same. One of the ways I help my patients determine their plan is to bring goal photos of women (about their size) with the breasts they want to see post-op. This helps us both see what the end results should look like. As always, make sure you discuss your options with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
