Botox can be used to target a muscle that pulls the tip down when smiling. A smiling picture from the side will help show if it would be effective for you. It does require an injection but numbing agents and ice can be used to lessen the pain.
Thank you for your question and photos. There is a little muscle above the lips called "depressor septi" which, in some people, will pull down the tip of the nose when smiling. Adding 2-5 units of botox will prevent this from occurring. If you do not get nasal tip depression with smiling, the BOTOX maneuver will likely not work and a rhinoplasty procedure might be considered (suture techniques, graft, implants, etc.).Hope this answers your question.Kind regards,Dr. Marc DuPere, aesthetic cosmetic plastic surgeon
Thank you for your question. Botox targets the nerves by controlling muscles and causing them to relax. The result is a temporary soothing of wrinkles caused by overactive muscles. It could help in relaxing the muscle by your nose. For more information, I recommend getting a consult from a board-certified dermatologist.
Hello,Thanks for your posting.Looking at the photos, seems Botox should help to relax depressor septi muscle and not to pull down the nose tip when you smile.Having said that, giving a try to make sure you will see the benefits, just 3-4 units of Botox. Yes it does hurt because it is very sensitive area. BUT numbing cream and using tools (cool/ vibration) minimize the discomfort. Suggest to give a try.Best -- Dr Ray
The tip of nose almost always responds to Botox particularly if the injected in two precise points. The most common single point injection works well in many patients but if the results are not satisfactory the second point of injection should be tried.Looking at your first photo the tip of your nose does not attract attention. What does, however, is your under eye areas. I could be wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if you had filler injected under your eyes, and if so, most likely Juvederm. It appears you have some swelling that results in a shadowing effect which, predictably, improves with smile. All the above, if real, are nearly always correctable. Good luck!
Dear Melissa9856: There is a tiny muscle which pulls the tip of the nose down. It does not act during smiling but can be weakened with a proper Botox injection releasing the tip to go up.Keep smiling anyways. Always consult a well experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for your best results. All the best.
Sometimes a small amount of botox just at the base of the nose will minimize the pull down of the tip when smiling.
Thank your for your question and pictures. Botox can help prevent the tip of the nose from drooping when smiling, more so if you have a strong depressor nasalis. It may also slightly raise the tip of the nose. I recommend seeing an expert in your area. I hope this help. All the best, Dr. Michon
Botox will not elevate the tip while you smile, but it will prevent the tip from drooping. The tip may look higher when not smiling. Make sure you see a plastic surgeon like myself who is comfortable with the treatment. Good luck from NYC.
Hi Melissa,I'm glad you asked that question. Oftentimes, it is a misconception that only fillers are considered when doing liquid nose jobs. In practice, I've seen that the nose shape actually changes with age resulting to a "nosetip drop". In addition, the tip droops when you smile - a dynamic action caused by the depressor muscle. Botox injected into this muscle will keep the nose tilted (more youthful looking). If the nose droops even at rest, this may be beyond what non-surgical measures can do.And it doesn't hurt! All the best,Justin Harper, M.D.
It is very unlikely that the symptoms you are describing are related to your botox injections. It sounds more like allergies. If you were to have a droopy eyelid as a result of the botox it would be apparent by now. I would recommend seeing you primary care physician if your allergy symptoms...
Hello, I wonder if you had Botox injected in Glabella area too. In that case your forehead requirement may not be as much. on average glabella need 15-20 units. forehead need 15-20 or less if glabella also is injected. There are several factors affecting the results of Botox. muscle activity,...
The possibiltiy of droopy lids should have been discussed before injection or part of the consent for treatment. You should not expect a refund... as it is an accepted and known risk which can occur in the hands of even the most expert injectors. The good news is that it...
