Swollen eyelids 20 days after Botox (Photo)

Question

I had botox almost three weeks ago for the first time. First I had redness under my right eye and dry skin, it also started to swell. Now both my left and right eye are swollen (the eyelids) and I still have redness patch under my right eye. My doctor who I went to for the injections said it was definitely not a reaction to the botox and is just allergies. I do have allergies this time of year, but I am so petrified because I have read a lot online about droopy eyelids after botox. PLEASE HELP

Sorry to hear you are having a scare. This reaction is most likely allergic and not related to the Botox.  Sometimes when the Botox kicks in it can make your eyes feel heavy for a few days but usually subsides after a short time.  If the Botox migrates, or is injected improperly, there is a chance of an eyelid droop, but that would be apparent by now if that were the case. The redness and puffiness you are experiencing sounds like a seasonal allergic reaction. Try taking some anti-histamines and give it time.  Best of luck.Thank you,Alexander Rivkin, M.D.

I feel that the symptoms that your describing are allergies. As stated previously you would have droopy eyelids by now if this were to occur.

You're describing classic allergy symptoms. Your photos do not demonstrate a droopy eyelid at all. After 20 days, you would have seen drooping by now. I think you're safe from the Botox. See you allergy specialist! Good luck, Dr. Aldo

It is very unusual to have such asymmetrical and uneven redness lasting over 3 weeks after botox injection, especially if injections were done appropriately by a plastic surgeon. If the botox became contaminated during the process of preparation/injection, infection should be considered. If you do not have any itching and if antihistaminic medicine was not helpful it would be very unusual that your condition is due to allergic reaction.

It is very unlikely that the symptoms you are describing are related to your botox injections. It sounds more like allergies. If you were to have a droopy eyelid as a result of the botox it would be apparent by now.
I would recommend seeing you primary care physician if your allergy symptoms persist.

From the photos it doesnt look like you have ptosis so i think it is allergic issues to the environment and not to the Botox
