C.diff post breast augmentation, with this cause me to have a higher risk of capsular contraction?

I'm almost 4 weeks post op and had take clindamycin post surgically. Starting about a week ago I had what I thought was food poisoning and my family physician is testing me for C.Diff. Is there an increased chance capsular contractions or other complications from this infection? I haven't had any other complications so far.

It is
understandable that you are concerned especially with the capsular contracture risks. As a simple answer to your question, the cap. contracture is the result of an inflammatory process and it is not impossible that the risks to develop cap. contracture when there is an ongoing inflammation/infection such as c.diff. However, it does NOT mean that if you were to have c.diff infection then you will develop cap. contracture.

My best
recommendation at the moment is to remain positive and follow your surgeon's recommendations and to keep communicating with him/her and work as a team
together to achieve the best results possible.

Very unlikely to cause capsular contracture. However, C. Difficile colitis is a serious infection so make sure you complete the entire treatment regimen to eradicate the infection. Thanks for sharing.

As far as I know, there is no correlation between C. difficile infection and capsular contracture.  Best wishes for your recovery and I am sorry to hear that you had this complication after taking your antibiotics.

C Diff resides in the intestine, so it is not likely to spread to your breasts via the bloodstream.Breast implant capsular contracture is more related to low grade infections from skin bacteria, rather than an intestinal bacteria spreading to the breast.  The role of infection in breast implant capuslar contracutre is still not clear.Good luck.

Wait to see if your are actually positive for C. Diff.  It can be due to the use of the antibiotic in sensitive individuals. This will not put you at a higher risk for the development of a capsular contracture.

Thank you for your question. It would be highly unlikely for the C.Diff to cause a contracture. The bacteria would have to seed/colonize the implant.
