I am looking to get a full tummy tuck, but I am worried about these prominent upper fat pockets after. The pic in pink top is me breathing in). My question is, are they loose skin or fat pockets as I believe them to be and will a full tummy tuck get rid of them? I have studied lots of before and after pics and most ladies don’t seem to have these. My main aim is to look good in clothes! If I have a flat stomach will these pockets look really unsightly? Thank you.
Answer: Tummy tuck A tummy tuck will remove excess fat and skin as well as correct abdominal wall laxity. The result is a flatter, tighter tummy. Patients often elect to also have liposuction of the hip/flank area to give a more complete result. You appear to be a good candidate and should have a nice result, including the upper abdominal contour that concerns you.

Answer: Will my fat pockets go away with a tummy tuck? Yes, a properly perform tummy tuck will address the upper fat pockets. I would recommend liposuction in 360° followed by an abdominoplasty procedure. Liposuction will help thin the areas of fat to create a smooth S-curve to your abdomen, waistline, and love handles.

Answer: What to expect from a Tummy Tuck. Can upper abdomen fat pockets be removed? Great questions. When I have treated patients that do not like their upper abdominal and bra line fat pockets, and have mid and lower abdominal skin laxity, they have had their expectations met with a tummy tuck and liposuction of those areas. It is best to have an in depth consultation with a few Plastic Surgeons, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, who can review your concerns and expectations after a complete examination. This way you can best understand your options. Many of my patients do not need muscle tightening, only liposuction of the fats pockets, removal of the excess skin, and repositioning of the belly button. My patients are asked to show me where they would like their lower abdominal incision placed so that they can hide it under the types of underwear and bathing suits they want to wear. Good Luck!

Answer: Tummy tuck candidate Dear crazydaisyx6,based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a TT. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. You might also need a liposuction in order to get the best results. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Will tummy tuck get rid of upper abdominal fat rolls? Thank you for your question and photos. There upper abdominal bulges you have is some skin redundancy and small fat deposits. These are very common in all women. With tummy tuck they are corrected as all of the skin is pulled down and stretched. If they are very prominent, light liposuction of the bulges may be done, but is not always necessary. Your plastic surgeon should be able to address these during your procedure. Good luck. Sincerely, Olga Bachilo, MD
