Surgical bra vs bandages post-op? What's the difference?

The only difference is surgeon preference. We all have our own way of doing things that usually develop over time based on our experiences. Many times what we do is based on science but dressings after surgery are not. If you like the results the surgeon and are comfortable with him/her and the practice then you are making the correct decision. Some surgeons prefer a surgical bra, some prefer to use bandages. It all depends on the surgeons preferences. 

This is a matter of surgeon's preference.  No study to my knowledge has shown a better long term outcome with either post operative garment.

Hi.  Personally I use minimal dressings and an elasticised tubigrip for the first week then into a bra.  The main thing is comfort and any of the techniques you describe are fine and will not affect the implants.  Regards

Bra vs bandage does not make any difference.  You should trust in your plastic surgeon.  Make sure they are a board certified plastic surgeon.  

I recommend my patients wear a sports bra after the bandages I place in surgery are removed.  Each surgeon is different on their preference of post operative care.  Best of luck to you!

In fact, there is no study supporting the use of bandages or bras after breast augmentation. Every surgeon uses a slightly different approach, based on personal preferences and experience.i wouldn't normally use bandages, and I do not ask patients to wear a bra, unless they feel more comfortable in it. 

I use a sports bra simply because it is easier to deal with. The main reason I use it is for the patients' psychological comfort as most worry if they go home without external support. For most patients, it makes no difference in their final result. I usually allow them to wear it or not whenever they want depending on their wants.
