I don't think my breasts look perky enough, is a breast lift necessary for me? (Photos)

You need a formal evaluation by a licensed plastic surgeon and expert in breast lifts, revisions and augmentations to determine what is best for you and your goals.Breast lift surgery can improve a woman's breast shape by repositioning the breast mound at a higher position on the chest and then centering the nipple and areola on the breast itself. If there is enough breast tissue, I can perform a highly aesthetic mastopexy without the addition of further volume by internally rearranging the breast tissue and removing excess skin. A breast lift would reshape the tissue and move the areola to an improved location.  It does not require removal of breast tissue, as the breast reduction would, but only skin tightening.  You would benefit from a breast lift if your breasts are elongated shaped with nipples drooping lower than your breast crease and areolas pointing downward.   A breast lift without an implant or fat grafting does not add superior breast fullness.The best way to determine if one or both procedures is required to achieve your ultimate goal is to schedule an in-office consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate your anatomy and discuss the options available. Also suggest that you review the before and after photos on the plastic surgeons' web sites to determine the aesthetic quality of the results.

At your age, if you are having any doubts, you may want to wait (particularly if you are thinking you may want children as pregnancy and breast feeding may change your breast shape).  There is no urgency to have this procedure.   In general, if you are seeking to achieve a more perkier look, then a breast lift may meet your goals.  By reshaping the breast, your surgeon may reduce the degree of sagging and raise the nipple position.  Although there are various breast lift techniques available, your surgeon will be able to discuss the risks and benefits of each technique.   @yorkplasticsurgery

This procedure will lift your breast and make them more perky, while correcting any asymmetry, and shrinking the size of your areolas. Hello and thank you for the question and photos. Your breasts are very normal. There is some sagging, but this is nothing out of the ordinary. None the less, if you are interested in a lift then you would be a great candidate for it. Basically, a normal breast lift is done by tightening the skin envelope and repositioning the areola. This might translate to some volume loss. So, if you are afraid of having smaller breasts after surgery, I suggest having a breast lift with small implants. I feel you would have great results with either procedure.Best of luck,Dr. Miguel Mota

Dear shayfraze, Thank you for your question. Although it is hard to tell just from photos alone, you do appear to be a candidate for a Mastopexy. I suggest doing research in finding a Board Certified Operating Surgeon who specializes in this procedure. You are an excellent candidate for a lift using The Bellesoma Method.  This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage.  Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Determining whether you need simply a breast augmentation versus a breast lift can be somewhat complicated. It depends on a number of factors including skin laxity and current nipple position. Generally speaking, if the nipples are lower than the inframammary line the patient will most likely need a breast lift. If the nipples are at or above the inframammaryline we can generally get by with just a breast augmentation depending on the size of the implant the patient wants. I often still using implant when I perform a breast lift because it provides more upper breast fullness after the lift. To be sure a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help determine what the patient actually needs.

Thank you for your question.   After looking at your pictures you can make your breasts perkier with a lift with an auto-augmentation or a lift with a breast implant.  Your breasts are sagging a bit and a lift will tighten the skin and make them perkier. 

Patient concerns regarding the appearance of their breasts can typically be divided in two pools: volume, ptosis (droop). The procedures to address these issues are as different as the issues themselves. However, these concerns are not mutually exclusive (some want smaller less droopy breasts and others want larger less droopy breasts).
There are two factors which can help to answer the question of which surgery will deliver the most satisfying result: mastopexy, augmentation or both. Patients must first consider the position of the NAC (nipple areolar complex i.e. the pigmented portion of the breast) as it relates to the inframammary crease. If the nipples are at or below the level of the crease the patient may benefit from a lift or mastopexy. The breast lift is designed to elevate sagging breasts to a more youthful position. It also helps to reshape and tighten the skin of the breasts. This is typically accomplished via a periareolar (around the nipple) incision with or without a vertical incision/transverse limb.
Based upon your photos, you appear to be a reasonable candidate for lift.
There is a procedure for every problem. To determine which technique is right for you, consult with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS). Patients should discuss their concerns with their physicians in order to make an educated decision.
