The down time varies depending on your concerns. The bruising and much of the swelling is improved after a couple of weeks that most strangers do not notice that you have just have had surgery. However, in photographs you will notice swelling that can persist for a couple of months. Many return to work after about a week off from surgery while they are still somewhat swollen or even bruised. Make up can help but it is not perfect and generally not advisable until the skin has healed. For many that can be a full two weeks or more after surgery.
