I've been advised against liposuction, would Kybella really help my banana roll?

I have banana roll and I had few consultations to do Liposuction but I wasn’t advised to do it now I’m thinking to do Kybella but I wonder if it really will help since I have to do a lot of vials for it I’ll end up paying as much as the surgery costs.

Dear ailinm,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office.  I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable.  It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD

Banana rolls can be taken care of with either. We have extensive experience with Kybella and liposuction and both work well.  Although Kybella is approved for submental (under the chin) fat, it can be used on banana rolls. If the amount is large, then liposuction will be needed.  An in-office exam is needed.  Seek out a consultation with a board-certified expert.

Thank you for your question. I would not recommend using Kybella to treat your banana roll. Another option for you to consider is SculpSure. SculpSure is FDA- approved and highly effective in killing fat cells in unwanted areas such as flanks, abdomen, upper arms, thighs, knees, and other locations with fat deposits. The heating energy of the SculpSure laser also causes the production of collagen and elastin, the two necessary building blocks for youthful, healthy skin. It’s difficult to tell without any photos. For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.

Banana rolls can be tricky to treat. Very light liposuction can be done in the area to help blend the area. Overly aggressive liposuction can make your banana rolls worse... or even multiply in number. For more severe rolls, they should be direclty excised with the incision hidden in your natural buttock crease. Kybella has not been studied nor is FDA approved for the banana rolls so it may be difficult to predict the results. Hope this helps!

Hello,A photo would allow me to offer more specific suggestions.overall as you expressed Kybella may have to be injected several times while liposuction is done once.These days liposuction is done under local anesthesia. And I find liposuction under local anesthesia quite safe and very short downtime. I am wondering why you are not able to have liposuction. It would have helped if you had photos to see why lipo was advised against. Kybella for submental fat works, but good results may require several treatments.

In our practice, we do not recommend  Kybella for a variety of reasons. Liposuction in the neck can accomplish  removal of fatty deposits above the platysma muscle. A surgical necklift is required to remove the fatty deposits underneath the platysma muscle. A platysma-plasty is then required if sub-  platysma fat has been removed. As long as you're less than 50 years of age, no skin removal is required as long as the skin tone is acceptable. For many examples, please see the link and the video below
