I had my first treatment of Kybella 8 days ago. Now that the swelling subsided I’m left with a very hard egg sized lump under my chin. I look 100% worse than before I barely had any fat under there. Is this normal? How long will it last? It still hurts to touch also. I’m worried I’ve done more harm than good and I’m going to be stuck looking worse than before treatment.
Answer: Lump after Treatment? Kybella treatment Yes, this can happen after a Kybella treatment. Kybella take 1-3 treatments every 6 weeks. Patient will develop swelling and possible bruising after each injection that may last a few days. The benefit of Kybella is each treatment is quick and completed in the office. However, some patients need more than one treatment to get desired results. Hope this helps.

Answer: Kybella Results--add thermage, ultherapy, exilis, VASER, ThermiRF This can be typical. Lymphatic massage may give improvement. It will take several weeks for final results with Kybella and it will need a combination approach. For best results with Kybella, I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is an alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Normal Hello there! Kybella causes swelling and inflammation in the area injected. I would contact your provider to see if they have any treatments that will help to massage this area and decrease the swelling/inflammation. In our office we will treat patients post-Kybella with Cellutone. This greatly helps to decrease the amount of swelling, and helps to break up the fat cells. If your provider does not offer something like this, in-home massage for several minutes a day may help this to subside quicker. Things like this typically subside after several weeks, and the final result is not seen for 6-8 weeks post treatment. Good luck! Sarah RN BSN

Answer: What to Expect After Your Kybella Treatment Immediately after the Kybella injections, you can expect swelling. This is because Kybella is a product that completely destroys the fats cells. It causes the cells to burst open spilling their contents. Your bodies immune cells spring into action to clean it up. First you see swelling right away, then it organizes, gets firm, this is still part of this clean up and disposal process. The initial swelling typically lasts about 4-7 days, then the firm or lumpy phase can last 4-6 weeks. I typically schedule the second Kybella session at 6 weeks to allow enough time for this phase to resolve, and explain ahead of time that these are all common and anticipated responses to the treatment.
