Am I a candidate for tear trough filler? Should I get a second opinion? (Photos)

thank you very much for your question.  I am sorry you did not have a good experience with your physician.  Based on your photograph, you do appear to be an excellent candidate for the use of fillers in the midface as well as the tear trough region.  Although you are young, you do have some soft tissue volume changes in these areas.  I feel that these changes could be improved with the use of fillers.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  You can use dermal fillers to help camouflage your lower eyelid region from the bagginess and hollowness present.  I would recommend Vollure as you will likely need two syringes total to make a nice correction.  Hope this helps.

You have beautiful features. It appears that you have a hereditary puffiness under the eyes and hollowness below that. You would be a great candidate for filler, but also realize to get the best result you may want to have a lower eyelid blepharoplasty- if the puffiness is there all the time.  It is important to consult another doctor. You should have a good rapoir with your doctor and feel that you can share your concerns openly.

Volbella is an excellent dermal filler to use in the tear trough because it is very thin, provides a lovely, soft-looking result and is made of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that occurs in our body to keep our skin moist and our joints supple. Volbella can also last up to 18 months or more.
 
However, please don’t use this physician for your Volbella injections. It sounds like she has no experience in this area, and you don’t want anyone to “learn” on you. Consulting with a board-certified dermatologist who has expert injection technique and is comfortable treating tear troughs will give you the most satisfying and beautiful result. 

This is a good question! From your pictures it seems that you will get a good result from tear trough fillers. What I can assess from the pictures is that you may need a product that brings more volume to the area than Volbella, but that is better determined in a consultation. I would state, however, that much more important than the product you use is the experience level of the injector.  I do a lot of injection trainings and I know how much of the results are dependent on injection skills and experience.  I would highly recommend that you find an experienced injector  to get the results you want. You appear to be a great candidate for tear trough filler based on these photos.  However, if your physician does not do this type of filler technique often or appears uncomfortable with it, go somewhere else.  It's a tricky injection technique.  Also, Volbella is not my preference for the tear trough -- Restylane or Belotero are better, and most board certified core injectors (facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and dermatologists) would agree.  Watch my video for an example of how it's done.  Good luck to you!

Firstly, I'm sorry that your provider left you feeling uncomfortable.  Secondly, I think you'll find varied opinions on the use of Volbella for this area.  Volbella is a softer, less hydrophilic (draws in less water = less swelling) filler than many are using to treat the tear trough area.  Others use Voluma (thicker filler) and place it right on the facial bone to fill beneath.  My go to for this area is Belotero.  While any hyaluronic acid filler can cause something called the Tyndall effect (bluish discoloration), I have not had this complication with Belotero.  There are also several methods for placing filler in this area.  I like to use a cannula so as not to cause as much bruising or swelling with injections.  Ultimately, I would recommend that you go to a provider who actually hears and honors your concerns while also being quite experienced in treating this area of the face.  Good luck!

Looking at your photos, I would say you would benefit from tear trough filler.  I would use Restylane or Bolletero, this should be injected properly and deep along the orbital rim.  Best of luck!

The filler is not meant to cover dark circles or remove pigment.  It is specifically going to "fill" any hollowing.  If you see or feel hollows then a filler will probably help you.  When done properly, it works wonders.  You may still need to wear concealer though!  It sounds like your injector is not very comfortable doing this procedure on you.  Because under-eye filler is an advanced technique, seek out a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon with experience doing this technique.  From the photo, it appears that you are certainly a good candidate.  The filler options would be: Restylane or Belotero; and it can be injected with either a needle or a cannula (soft tube). I would start low and add more if needed after 2 weeks.
