Return of puffy nipples after gynecomastia surgery. (photos)

Question

I had gynacamastia surgery (gland excision and lipo) on 2/10/17, followed all my Drs. Instructions including wearing the compression vest for 5 weeks. I was happy with results the week that compression vest came off. About two weeks following vest removal puffiness seemed to return to my nipples and the peck skin seems to droop, met with Dr. he says should go away. I'm worried that this is leftover gland or scar tissue. Is it possible these areas will tighten up or will a revision be required?

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Without an in-person examination it is difficult to offer definite advice as feeling of the tissues is key to a successful diagnosis. I would allow your results time to fully mature over 6 months and then reassess your results.  If you continue to have excess skin or fullness consistent with glandular breast tissue a revision surgery would be needed.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for your questions and photos.  Unfortunately, it looks as though all of the gland was not removed and that you were potentially over suctioned/emptied out.  This is a difficult problem to correct and a revision will likely be required, though I would not recommend any further procedure until at least 6 months after your original procedure.I would encourage you to discuss with your surgeon or to seek consultation with another ABPS-board certified plastic surgeon that has extensive gynecomastia experience and multiple before and after photos of results that you like.  Best wishes!

Schedule an appointment to see your surgeon to have him examine you in person. If you need need a revision, it is generally smart to wait until at least 6 months most op. Best of luck.

Kindly consult your Plastic surgeon who has done the procedure as he is the best person to assess at this time if there is any remnant glandular tissue or a seroma present for which he will take appropriate action. If there is remnant gland then he will do a small touch-up procedure to remove it out. In case of a seroma, he may consider use of steroid.
