Can post op enlargement of chest (possibly due to cannabis) be reversed by discontinuation? (Photo)

Question

Its 5 weeks since my Excision only surgery, although doctor did do some light lipo around nipple area. I was given a pressure dressing and instructed to wear it for one week, initialy having pleasing results. I have become less optimistic however as my chest has grown in size over the past two weeks and I'm wondering whether this is due to cannabis use? (1-2 times a week) . I'm more than happy to stop the smoking but now wonder if its to late to reverse the possible damage that has been done?

Dear devlarkan,
your enlargement is likely caused by the surgery you had. I would recommend you to stop using cannabis because there is a link between the gynecomastia and cannabis use. 
If you have any concerns you should visit your plastic surgeon.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Though cannibis use is a known contributing factor towards gynecomastia development it would rarely cause such enlargement so quickly.  In most instances the increased chest size is the result of swelling from your procedure.  See your surgeon for an in-person examination and discussion.

My guess is that what you are experiencing is simply due to post op swelling, but you will need to be examined in person by your surgeon to make certain. Having said that, there is thought to be a link between cannabis use and gynecomastia so I would definitely advise you with cannabis. Best of luck.
