Juvederm is causing persistent headaches. Do I need to remove the filler?

A week after I got Juvederm plus on lips I began getting persistent headaches and they have not gone away in months, every single day! MRIs are clear I have been to every single doctor and there is nothing found in my body that’s causing the headaches. Do I remove the filler ?? Could it be causing my headaches? I know people say it’s natural but who knows

Thank you for your question and I am sorry you are experiencing these headaches. While headaches after Juvederm filler have not been reported in the literature, the human body is complex!  You did all of the appropriate testing to find out the cause of the headaches. You can always dissolve the filler safely with hyaluronidase.

Hi and thank you for your question! Based on your description, it is very unlikely that the headache is caused by Juvederm, but as we are dealing with complicated human body, it is not impossible. If you have already tried to check all other possible causes and they have all came negative, you can try removing the filler with enzyme as a last recourse. I hope it helps and good luck!

It is highly unlikely that Juvederm injected in your lips is causing your persistent headaches.  I am not confident that dissolving your Juvederm will have any effect, but you can absolutely get your filler dissolved in an effort to determine the cause of your headaches.

Juvederm is not known to cause headaches after lip injections.  It is an option for you to have the remaining product dissolved at any time, but there is no way to determine if that will improve your symptoms.  I hope you feel better soon.

Hello and thank you for your question.  Juvederm does not migrate outside the area filled, so no, I would not take it out.  I have also never heard of fillers causing headaches, sorry you are having them daily , i hope you find out the cause real soon.

Thank you for your question.  Sorry you are experiencing the headaches.I have never heard of Juvederm causing headaches, but you have seen several physicians and sounds like you've had extensive testing performed without any direction.I feel you have nothing to lose by having the Juvederm dissolved with Hyaluronidase injections.  Then you can re-assess the headache issues.Hope the hyaluronidase works.Dr T

It is highly unlikely that your headaches are caused by Juvederm, but like you said everybody can we have a different reaction to the product. You can always return to your treating physician and ask them to dissolve the product with the use of hyaluronidase. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City
