How soon can you have a breast lift after lump removal surgery? Background: I’m 21, had 3 surgeries since March 2016. Phyllodes tumor removal, tissue removal the month after, and then the removal of another fibroadenoma. Also 2 biopsies within the last 6 months. I also currently have a new lump and will see exactly what it is once I get my biopsy results and an upcoming mammo. All of this has left me with 2 very visible scars, that can most likely only be removed thru a cosmetic procedure.
Answer: Breast lift after fibroadenoma removal Dear brklyn123, you should recover and fully heal prior to another breast surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Breast lift Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear that you had to have so many procedures on your breast at such a young age. There is no one fits all answer for your questions. It depends on many patient specific factors, like e.g. how large are your breasts, how large were the phyllodes tumor and the fibroadenoma removed from your breast, where were these lumps located in your breast, where is the new lump located in your breast? Depending on the factors above and your pending biopsy result, the breast lift could potentially be done by a plastic surgeon at the same time as your breast surgeon is removing the breast lump. If there is any question about the final pathology of your new lump then a staged approach might be advised. I would recommend you being seen and examined by a board certified plastic surgeon who can work closely together with your breast surgeon to develop a surgical plan specifically and best for you. Best wishes, Franziska Huettner

Answer: Breast lift after lumpectomy keep in mind that a breast lift always requires incisions that will leave additional scars on a breast. Whether your previous scars can be removed during the breast lift depends on your physical exam. It is very important for your plastic surgeon to read the operative reports from your previous biopsies. If tissue was removed underneath the areola during the biopsy, this could compromise the blood supply to the nipple and areola during the breast lift. Thorough communication between you and all your surgeons is a must for a good outcome. Best regards, Prashant Soni M.D.

Answer: Breast reconstruction Thank you for your question. It is difficult to answer your question without knowing the anatomy of where the lesions are located. In general however, the best time to do this especially in the face of benign disease would be to do it coordinated with your breast surgeon and plastic surgeon at the same time when you have your lesion excision and breast lift in the same operation.

Answer: Breast Lift after fibroadenomal removal Hi Brklyn123 and thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear about your experience but thankfully you seem to be in the hands of a great breast surgeon. A breast lift can be performed after a fibroadenoma removal, but I typically recommend waiting at least three months between the procedures to allow your body and tissue to heal appropriately. Depending on the specifics of the case and your preoperative anatomy you might also want to consider placing a small breast implant to account for any volume loss or volume discrepancy between your breasts as a result of your prior breast surgeries. As a general rule of practice, I would encourage that your board certified plastic surgeon and breast surgeon be in close communication regarding your case and medical history. I would also encourage you to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to review your candidacy for a breast lift procedure and formulate the best plan of action for you. I hope that you find this helpful and I wish you all of the best!
