Is it okay to get fillers to enhance the jawline while wearing braces?

I'm 24 & I have had orthodontic braces for one year and still have around 6-12 months of treatment left. I really want to get fillers in my jawline to enhance the structure as I basically have no definition and I absolutely hate my side profile. I have an event soon and I'd really like to get jawline enhancement treatment before then, but I'm unsure if I can while I'm still wearing braces. I have an appointment with my orthodontist next week and will ask him then, but any help is appreciated.

I would see no problem having fillers placed along the jawline in someone who is wearing braces.  You can confirm this with your orthodontist.

There shouldn’t be a reason why you can’t get fillers with braces, but it’s not a bad idea to check with your orthodontist just in case. Another thing to keep in mind is that it can take up to two weeks for fillers to settle into place and for any swelling or bruising to diminish. So if you are planning on getting fillers before an event, try to schedule your appointment at least two weeks ahead of time so your results have time to fully develop before showing them off.

I agree with the other providers that there should be no issue getting filler while wearing braces.  The only point I would add is to allow adequate time between appointments.  I would not advise getting filler one day and going to the orthodontist the next day, as there is a small chance of moving the filler around while manipulating your mouth and face.  Allow for a few days between appointments and you should be fine.

Thank you for your question! Yes, you can get dermal filler treatments while you have braces. Having braces would not interfere with a jawline enhancement treatment. Jawline enhancement treatments generally involve adding more volume to the chin as well to give more projection from the side profile point of view. Other treatments that can also enhance the jawline include neuromodulators (like Botox for example) and Kybella, which destroys fat cells permanently in the submental area. The filler won't be placed anywhere near where the braces are. Just be sure you find a well trained and experienced physician injector who can deliver the kind of results you are looking for. You should have no problem with getting any fillers while in braces. Please make sure you know the credentials of anyone who may be your injector. It's important to stay safe as even fillers have produce serious complications.

Thank you for your question. Fillers are a great option for contouring the face and can make dramatic improvements in your appearance. As long as you don’t have any issues with your braces and your orthodontist gives you the clearance you can have this procedure done. However take into consideration that once the braces are removed there may be slight changes in your lower face appearance. Make sure your injector is qualified with training and experience.

Absolutely yes. There is no relationship between orthodontics and these filler areas. Further, consider longer term jawline augmentation rather than short term fillers once your event is passed.
