I am not aware of trigeminal nerve damage being associated with filler treatments. The maxillary (cheek) and mandibular (marionette) branches of the trigeminal nerves come from the facial skeleton deep to where fillers may be placed. I hope this helps. Dr Joseph
Just want to center the discussion on Trigeminal Nerve (TN) and its branches. The brand of the product is mostly irrelevant. The damage is likely due to poor placement of the product and most injectors will not place products so far back and so deep. However, recently, there has been certain techniques that have been promoted using needles injecting deep to bone. It is relatively safe if placed in the correct location but when placed too high or low, it will have the potential of nerve damage to the distal branches of TN. Depending on the extent of the damage, 3-4 months recovery is possible but not guaranteed.Lastly, it is very unlikely to even hit the TN or any of its major branches as they are behind or within bone structures. You may also wish to explore the possibility of other causes of TN issues.
I have not seen nor do I know any doctors who have seen trigeminal nerve damage from fillers. If you or someone you know is experiencing some symptoms following filler it may be from another cause but a professional consultation should be sought.
It is theoretically possible that the needle could disrupt the irritate branches of the trigeminal nerve but it is not something I have ever seen and I injected these products daily and have treated thousands of patients.
Hi There. Unfortunately les if injected by inexperienced injector can cause lots of issues and nerve damage is one of them. it can get gradually better but may not go back to normal completely. If you have such issue it is important to see your injector and a Neurologist. Remember there are other cause for nerve damage and their management is different. ( might be a coincident)
Hello, and thank you for your question! Weight loss does not cause filler to dissolve faster. Filler is dissolved naturally by an enzyme in the body called hyaluronidase. After weight loss, you may notice some increased volume loss, which may need to be treated with additional filler. However,...
Volume and contouring of the cheeks can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. Implants or fat are alternatives. Botox and radiofrequency can help slim and contour the jawline. Liposuction can help slim the face. Ultherapy, J Plasma and RF treatments can...
What your photos show is a mild ectropion. This can result from lower eyelid surgery or aging, so I am not sure why you are having this issue, but you may want to ask your Opthamologist, who can obtain a history and examine you and perhaps explain it.Threads very carefully placed by a highly ...
