Does losing weight dissolve filler faster?

I am looking to get under eye + cheek filler (Voluma and Restalyne) in a few weeks. I am also wanting to lose ~10 pounds / 3% body fat in the next few months. Will losing weight cause my fillers to dissolve faster? Will the body dissolve that while trying to dissolve fat?

Hello! Weight loss does not impact fillers. Fillers are naturally dissolved by an enzyme found in the skin, hyaluronidase. Tobacco use and ultraviolet light (sun exposure) have been shown to increase hyaluronidase but weight loss does not. A significant amount of weight loss (usually more than 10 pounds) can cause loss of volume in the face though, from natural fat loss but this is not a loss of filler volume. Good luck!

Hello, and thank you for your question! Weight loss does not cause filler to dissolve faster. Filler is dissolved naturally by an enzyme in the body called hyaluronidase. After weight loss, you may notice some increased volume loss, which may need to be treated with additional filler. However, it will not cause the filler that is already there to dissolve.

No, the weightloss should not impact the fillers although you may notice additional facial volume loss form the weight loss which may need to be treated with additional filler.

That’s a great question.   Losing weight does not dissolve fillers faster.   However, you will lose fat and collagen in your face, which may change the contours.   I would wait until after the planned weight loss to have fillers placed, so there is a more accurate amount used.
