Breast augmentation. I’m about 9-10 weeks post op . I was wondering if it’s ok to go “braless” for a few hours? I have a party next weekend and I don’t want to wear a bra, my surgeon requested I wear my surgical bra for the first 3 months all the time. I was just wondering if I can go braless for a few hours?
Answer: Should Be Okay At 10 weeks post-op, provided you have been healing normally, it should be safe to not wear your bra for a few hours as long as you do not engage in any heavy physical activities that may cause your breasts to move around intensely. It can be also advised to check with your own surgeon.Hope this helps,Ali Rıza Öreroğlu, MD FEBOPRASEuropean and Turkish Board Certified Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive SurgeonIstanbul, Turkey

Answer: Going braless after breast augmentation Hello, when it comes to wearing bras after breast augmentation surgery, there is wide variation in the advice provided by surgeons. Some surgeons feel a bra is completely unnecessary, and on the other end of the spectrum others feel is should be worn all the time. In my own practice I suggest patients wear a bra for a month to provide comfort and support, but if they wish to remove it I don't have any objection. I am not aware of high quality studies that support a specific postoperative regimen. That stated, It's always best to check with your own surgeon in case they have some reason why they feel your bra needs to be worn constantly.

Answer: Bra restrictions post op Thank you for your question! For my patients having a breast augmentation, the only bra restriction is to avoid wearing underwire bras for the first 6 weeks post op. After the 6 weeks mark, there are no restrictions. It is ok to go bra-less at that point. I recommend discussing specific post op instructions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Answer: Could I go braless for a few hours at 9 - 10 weeks post-op? It is important to consult with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon regarding recovery protocols. Each surgeon will have specific post-operative instructions that are successful in their practice. In my practice, I have patients wear a surgical compression bra for 6 weeks following their breast augmentation procedure to minimize swelling and allowing the breast to settle appropriately. After 6 weeks, I clear my patients to begin shopping for their new bras, given that at this time their incisions are fully healed, and the breast have settled. It is acceptable to go braless for a few hours at this point in your recovery. Thanks for sharing.

Answer: Enjoy Going Braless for a Few Hours Thank you very much for your question, as it is a good one. At nine or ten weeks post-op, it should be perfectly safe for you to go braless for a few hours, enjoying your new physique. However, your operating surgeon best knows your individual situation and the technique performed. I recommend that you reach out to your breast augmentation surgeon for his/her advice and approval on your evening out without a bra. Carefully continue to follow your surgeon’s instructions for the best results from your breast augmentation
