What can I do if my GP won't order the required stress test for my lipo?

However, while most insurances will cover your visit to a primary care provider for medical clearance, often visits to specialists and the associated tests will be an additional out of pocket expense. This is why it is important to seek care from a board certified plastic surgeon to ensure that all of the tests being ordered are relevant and necessary.

I wonder why your surgeon wants a stress test. I’ve never heard of such a thing. An electrocardiogram, yes, but never a stress test. You either need to clarify the issue with your surgeon, find somebody else to order the stress test, in which case you may have to pay for it yourself, or maybe you shouldn’t have the surgery. Or your GP can clear you without the stress test if she feels it’s not needed

A stress test should not be required as preop testing unless you have heart issues. An EKG might be required. You might contact your surgeon and ask specifically why you need a stress test. Insurance may not cover this as just a preop workup unless there is heart disease suspected.

I kind of agree with your primary care doctor that a stress test is not indicated.
They are not very accurate in predicting anything.
