I had one session of Coolsculpt around my bra area and flanks but I ended up developing PAH. Can tumescent lipo with Renuvion be an effective treatment for PAH? I’m 30, 5’7, 139lbs
Answer: Tumescent Lipo and Renuvion for PAH after Coolsculpting Hello Kind587963, I'm truly sorry to hear about your experience with PAH (Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia) after Coolsculpting. PAH is a rare, but known side effect where treated areas have an unexpected increase in fat cells instead of the intended reduction. Tumescent liposuction combined with Renuvion (formerly known as J-Plasma) has been used in some cases to address PAH. Tumescent liposuction would assist in removing the increased fat tissue, while Renuvion can provide skin tightening effects through its radiofrequency and helium plasma technology. Your age, height, and weight are within a range where such a procedure could be considered. However, it's vital to note that every patient's situation is unique. It's essential to have an in-depth consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience i PAH and the specific treatment modalities you're considering. They will be able to evaluate the extent of the PAH, discuss potential outcomes, risks, and ensure that you're an appropriate candidate for the procedure. Remember, while these treatments can be effective, the most crucial aspect is ensuring you're working with a professional who understands your specific needs and can guide you through the process safely. Thank you for reaching out with your question. I sincerely hope you find a solution that restores your confidence and comfort. Best wishes on your journey. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Liposuction Liposuction is the gold standard for the removal of undesirable subcutaneous fat. Some areas and some people are better candidates for Liposuction than others. If one area on the torso is treated aggressively it will create an uneven fat distribution. Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe including plastic surgeons. Simply being board-certified and plastic surgery with an overall good reputation does not guarantee someone has mastered this procedure. My first hand experience with Renuvion added nothing to regular Liposuction and I would not recommend adding it. From one years use the only thing I noticed was my patients had more pain during and after the procedure. None of my patients saw skin tightening and both subjective and objective measurements including measuring actual skin marks showed no clinical evidence of skin tightening from any of the patients I used to device on for one year. I’ve since sold the device. To find the right plastic surgeon to do Liposuction I suggest having multiple in person consultations. During each consultation ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures of similar areas treated in the past.An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures of Liposuction results. Ask the provider to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and less than outcomes. You should also ask them to show you as many pictures as possible of people with similar body characteristics to around in regards to age, skin laxity and amount of body fat. Continue having consultations until you feel like you found the most talented provider. Personally I recommend avoiding virtual consultations whenever possible. Liposuction is permanent and more or less irreversible. If done poorly it can leave people does figured.Patients should put in a serious effort to find the most experienced and talented provider for any Liposuction work.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
