Hi Hmgriss, Thank you for your question regarding buttock augmentation during a 360 circumferential lower body lift. During a lower body lift, excess skin and fat from the abdomen, lateral thighs, and buttocks is removed. During a lower body lift, the buttock is not routinely augmented. During a lower 360 circumferential lower body lift, the best way to augment the buttock is with a "turn down" flap. This flap uses your own tissue. During the "turn down" flap, the upper buttock paddles are denuded of all the epidermis and part of the dermis. The flap is turned down on top of each buttock. The analogy that I use to describe in the office, is that it is much like tucking in your shirt. The "turn down" is not commonly performed, so you need to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. One to months after your 360 circumferential lower body lift, you can augment your buttock with fat transfer, typically harvested from the thighs. If you have no thigh fat, I would suggest buttock implants. Good luck with your lower body lift surgery. If you have any more questions regarding a 360 circumferential lower body lift or buttock augmentation, please contact my office.
