I am scheduled for a LBL on 10/25/17. I have an my pre-op appointment on 9/25/17, where of course I will ask my PS if this is part of his LBL. I am just curious how common this is

Answer: Auto-augmentation in lower body lifts In my practice, I always have the conversation of an auto-augmentation with my patients. The reason for this is that a LBL will naturally flatten the buttock. Most surgeons do not include this in a LBL so I would make sure that you discussed this with your surgeon in advance to make sure you know what you're getting. Also, not all plastic surgeons feel comfortable doing the auto-augmentation. Best of luck with your upcoming procedure.

Answer: Do lower body lifts commonly include an auto buttock augmentation? Lower body lifts do not always include an auto buttock augmentation as this procedure requires additional time to elevate the skin off the buttock and inset the augmented tissue. Additionally, not all patients are good candidates for autoaugmentation. Patients with loose skin, but very little fat often don't get much benefit and in other patients, the augmented tissue only improves the upper buttock leaving a step off in the mid buttock area that is cosmetically unappealing.
