So after losing 120 pounds I was left with a lot of excess. skin on my legs. I knew I wanted to find a surgeon who specialized in Thigh lifts and being in Vancouver Canada I thought I was really limited to find the right surgeon so I had planned to California to have my legs done. Then covid hit and I thought I would meet with Dr. Reid. BEST DECISION EVER! It took a while to get a phone consult with him but once I did I felt like he was great. My next meeting was in office and he is such a kind soft spoken man. I quickly got a quote and was offered a surgery date about 2 months later. Surgery day came and I was excited and Dr. Reid did my markings at the Cambie Surgery centre early on a Monday morning. I woke up in a lot of pain but was well looked after by the staff and had an overnight stay included with my surgery. The only thing I wish I had with me was a female urinal. sitting on the toilet at the surgery centre was very hard. I also hated the garment so I was so so happy I had purchased my own garment to change into when I came home! Anyway, I was quite swollen and very very happy I had rented a lift chair at home. Stairs I found easiest to do going backwards! I have a ton of stairs in my house but I managed. The pain wasn't too bad, more burning and discomfort than anything. Ice packs were my best friend and the doctor at the nurses suggestion gave me Ativan for sleeping and that was heavenly! The amount of swelling did surprise me as my legs were bigger than before but after about a month they came down significantly and now 9 weeks post op I am so so thrilled. I did have severe itching at about 10 days post op and it turned out to be the surgical tape. It was so so awful and benedryl and prescription cream were helpful but it lasted for another month after and my only relief were icepacks. After that I had a very small opening on my left leg and I was so so worried but I was able to reach the doctor on call right away and was calmed down. I was put on antiobiotics and saw Dr. Reid the next day. He did have to open my leg and pack it and they took a sample and took it to the. hospital that night to get the lab results asap. I felt VERY well looked after and I was even able to text to text Dr. Reid photos and Questions and he was so responsive and great. I was put on new antibiotics and my leg healed so fast after the lab results came in. Over all my post op care could have not been better and through it all Dr. Reid and his staff were so kind and so responsive. Now at 9 weeks post op I love my legs and looking forward to my arms and breast lift with him next! Updated on 21 Dec 2020: This was at 5 weeks post op. The Scar has actually gotten more red since then. I'm now almost 3 months post op and still can't believe how my legs look. They still feel a bit sore sometimes and I will need the tiniest revision during my next surgery to fix a bit of loose skin around the groin but still so very happy with my results and my surgeon! Updated on 21 Dec 2020: Here's more shots of my incision from about six weeks. My groin scar has totally disapeard and was so well hidden in my leg crease. It was really short and barely there to begin with. Dr. Reid does excellent work! Updated on 25 Feb 2021: So just about 5 months post op and feeling great! Dr Reid is still absolutely the best surgeon and my follow up has been great. Scars are fading well. Excited to actually wear shorts this summer for the first time ever.
I recently had an arm lift, a breast lift, and have two more procedures to go. Dr. Reid is, by far, the best surgeon I have ever dealt with! He really took the time to understand my needs, explain my options, and ensure that I had all the information required to make the best decisions. After 14 years of weight loss, and 180 pounds lost, the body contouring surgery, that is one of Dr. Reid's specialties, is exactly what I needed to begin to restore my body to a healthy and normal size and shape. Upon our first meeting, even though it was virtual, Dr. Reid's professionalism, expertise, and kindness convinced me that he was the medical expert to help me on this life altering journey. The whole experience has been amazing, my first surgery was a great success with no complications, and I can't wait for the next steps to come. His awesome staff are friendly, caring, and helpful. Very grateful to find this compassionate and skillful professional.
I have lost a lot of weight, have been thinking about this for a long time. Met several surgeons before landing on the right one. Booked in for December. More excited than scared. Will have a full tummy tuck, lipo of flanks and breast lift and implants. Can not wait to share my after pictures ???? For reference my BMI is 27.6 ???? Updated on 8 Dec 2018: I’m feeling optimistic and cautious all at once. I really love my experience with dr Reid. He is super sweet and kind. I never care much about bedside manner if you are good at your job. I could care less if you think of me as a number if you are good at your job but I got it all with Dr Reid ! He took all the time I needed to advise and support me. He was kind and patient. I’m only 4 days post op and I’m feeling much better. Not on anything other than T3s my pain is manageable and I’m back to running around after my kid! I’m a bit worried about the dogs ear but I am hoping it’s from swelling and my nipples are weird but again hoping it’s just from my implants. Will keep updating Updated on 17 Feb 2019: Pictures from pre op and 2 months and 2 weeks post op. I’m not sure what is going on with my results, I am meeting my surgeon soon and will discuss my concerns. I have been doing my best to follow the instructions provided. I would say while my appearance has improved, I am not entirely happy with the out come. I am hoping I don’t need breast revision and that this breast issue will resolve itself in time but my gut tells me I’m dreaming. I definitely want a TT revision but am uncertain about how to best explain what I want. I wanted a snatched waist and I expected stretch marks of course and was told there would still be some excess skin but that it would be better then a fluer TT. Every area of my tummy, hips waist I am able to grab large handfuls of fat and skin, I am also noticing one side of my curves are completely different than the other. It is heart breaking to think my body can never be what I wish it could even the realistic picture I had. At this point I am not sure revisions will provide the results I want.. i was hoping to do a thigh lift and BBL too but I’m not sure it’s worth it yet... I like my surgeon a lot and trust his work so it’s obviously me that’s the problem, wish it wasn’t ha
I can't believe the difference of my body. Dr. Reid is truly a master as his job, his attention to detail is obviously amazing and bedside manner is awesome as well. The surgery staff members were personable and competent and they put me at ease before and after the procedure. Friends and family have complimented me on my new found confidence. Thanks! I would absolutely recommend Dr. Owen Reid
Dr. Reid is by far my new favourite plastic surgeon... From my initial consultation to my pre-op to my actual surgery he made me feel completely comfortable and in great hands. I never once questioned his judgement and I left everything up to him... All I wanted was some proper curves... he took the body I had and performed a complete miracle. I now have complete confidence with my new shape. I can’t wait to go for my post-op and talk about other surgeries I’m wanting to get done.
Dr.Reid is amazing. He has done a BBL and Breast augmentation on me. Dr.Reid took the time to listen to me. He never rushed my consultation and took time to look at all the pictures I had in my phone of how I wanted to look. The most impressive part is I’ve had implants before and was told I had to have a minimum of 550cc’s based on my chest wall and stature. Once those implants needed to be removed. Dr.Reid worked with me and was able to make my breast pocket smaller and did a bit of lipo. Now I have 425cc’s and a much more upper fullness without having huge Breasts. He is very good at what he does and is by far the easiest down to earth Dr, I have ever spoken with. I highly recommend him.
My experience with Dr. Owen Reid , was nothing but the best !!!!! From the consultation to the operating room to post-op , he was so easy to talk to , and he has a great set of skills !!! He understands what you want and delivers !
I'd been hiding my arms since I was in my teens. First, because they were so fat; then, after losing 115 pounds, because they were so flabby. I knew that if I only got one post-weightloss plastic surgery, it was going to be an arm lift. After consulting with two local surgeons, I immediately felt comfortable going with Dr. Own Reid for my surgery. He was understanding of my goals with surgery and willing to do as much as he could to resolve my skin problems. Surgery went very well, although I underestimated just how limited I'd be for the first three days post-op. I couldn't even get a drink or food to my mouth on my own until day three. I had one drain in each arm, and my incisions went past my elbows onto my forearm and then down my chest wall to about the level of my breasts. I had a lot of tissue which needed to be removed. My surgeon also took about 850cc of fat from each arm. Crazy! BTW, I don't recommend moving house five days after this surgery. I did it and it was a mess. Oops. I wore the compression crop top my surgeon gave me for three or four weeks. I believe this helped give me an excellent shape, especially considering the amount of liposuction he did. Other than some areas of my incisions which widened and became hypertrophic, I am very pleased with my outcome at six months. My scars are still quite dark, but I have no issue with that. I may look into using a scar fading treatment in the future, but that's not a priority for me. There is a small "dog-ear" at the end of my incision on my right forearm I hope to get revised in the new year, and possibly have the wider scars done as well, but if nothing changes, I'd still be entirely satisfied. I am finally not ashamed of my arms and enjoyed a summer full of sleeveless adventures!
No words can express the extent of my gratitude for what Dr. Reid has done for me. I was initially filled with trepidation but his genuine kind and compassionate bedside manner inspired confidence and he allayed all my concerns. I also very much appreciated the support his staff, especially Angela, have provided me throughout my surgeries and recovery over the past months. Dr. Reid’s skill as a surgeon is truly exceptional and I highly recommend him.
I have been wanting a breast reduction for years, and I recently decided to go ahead and do it. I found Dr. Reid online by reading reviews of plastic surgeons in my area who would do MSP covered breast reductions. At the time, he didn't have any before/after photos online, but he had amazing reviews and his office got back to me quicker than any other surgeon, so I decided to go ahead and go for a consultation and see what he could do. I was really nervous to go and expose my biggest insecurity to him, but it turns out that he happens to have the warmest, kindest demeanour about him, and all nervousness I had went away as soon as he started talking. I left my consultation feeling 100% confident in trusting him with performing my surgery and completely blown away by his bedside manner. I have met a lot of doctors in my time for various medical ailments, and never have I met one as personable as him. I never felt rushed by him, or that I was being "sold to". I am currently 2 months post-op and I could not be happier. Going into the surgery I was prepared for any possible result. All I wanted was smaller breasts, and I was fully mentally prepared that they may not be the prettiest breasts ever after surgery, and I was ok with that. But my results turned out to be better than I could have ever asked for, 100 times over. They are perky, symmetrical and beautiful and have my most ideal shape. He got them down to the exact size I was wanting and I still have nipple sensation (I went from a J cup, to a D cup). He has far exceeded my expectations, and if you are considering a breast reduction, don't hesitate, just do it and trust Dr. Reid! This whole experience has honestly changed my life x
There is more than one way to stage these procedures and many factors will need to be considered prior to making a final decision. Practical considerations should include: your general medical condition, your ability to take time off work, your support network, your tolerance for discomfort and your ability to stay overnight at the surgery centre on the day of the procedure. That said, one option that would work well is:
Typically 7-10 days is a safe time to remove the sutures around the belly button. If you leave them in for longer there is an increased risk of suture marks and they may be more difficult to remove. It's difficult to make a really specific recommendation without examining you or at least seeing a photo.
For my patients who work in an office environment as you do, I typically recommend 2 weeks away from work. Any post-op discomfort you may have should resolve well before that time and light activities should be comfortable.
During a lower body lift, skin is tightened in the vertical dimension. In the region of the waist, along each side of your body, the skin is made tight between the lower aspect of the rib cage and the hips, where the scar is located. Because the skin has been tightened, it may not follow the contour of your waist the same way, however, as the skin relaxes I think you'll find the contour of your waist will return towards normal.
In patients of a similar shape and size to you, I have been able to remove about 150 - 300cc per side from a deep fat pad in the 'love handle' region. The fat could then be used to fill in the minor lateral depressions in the gluteal region. Together, the effects of the liposuction and fat grafting should make a subtle but noticeable difference to your overall shape. I would hesitate to do any liposuction in the mid and upper abdomen.
